If anybody's interested, this has been reviewed on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/HP-Chromebook-11-G3-11-6-inch/dp/B016V2N5PW). 81% give it 4 or 5 stars. It costs $196 new, so this looks like a very good bargain.

This model does not have a touchscreen.

Support for Android apps is marked as "planned".

4GB of RAM is more than adequate for basic to intermediate use.

The fullsize ports and SD card slot will make it easy to connect this to things without the need to use dongles or adapters.

If someone is unsure if chromebooks are viable for what they do, this seems like a pretty decent way to "kick the tires" before investing in something more expensive.

Would this be good to upload photos? It's all my sister uses a computer for and hers broke recently. Thank you!

Does this have MS Office installed already? Looking for full version not 30 day trial.
Thanks

This does not have MS Office because it is running chrome OS (not Windows or macOS). This chromebook is capable of running MS Office online but that version has only a subset of the full desktop version of Office.

Yes it would handle that function easily, however it has very small internal storage so you would need a flashdrive, sd card, or external hard drive to store photos offline.

I've never seen Google Docs as an element to define a person as normal.

When you have an internet connection (WIFI) this is great for uploading photos to the cloud (dropbox/photobucket/googlephotos). Simply take the SD card out of your camera, and place it into the chromebook and upload.

Is the storage space expandable on these things, or is it soldered to the motherboard like the RAM memory?

I am tech illiterate.
We have an old MacBook Air which we can "tether" to the cell phone for internet access. However, the Mac is so old it won't "update" for new security patches and grinds and spins the wheel of death.
Can this chromebook also be "tethered" to provide us internet access? (We are in Amish country and can't get a cable or in house wifi from phone/satellite companies.)

If you are tethering your MacBook to your phone with a USB cable to get internet access on the MacBook, that method will probably not work with this Chromebook.

But you can probably turn your phone into a "personal hotspot" and then connect the Chromebook to the phone's cellular connection via wifi or Bluetooth.
