Not fancy, but functionable

This was a lot better quality than I expected for the price--a decent thickness, and stayed where I put it. The mouse glided across this thing like it was ice! In fact, the pad was so slick, that my mouse would actually go flying off the desk if I wasn't careful. There were some customers complaining this thing smelled, but I didn't notice any odor in particular. Of course, I didn't stick it up to my nose to smell it either, so it might have had the typical "new vinyl/plastic" smell when first opened that usually fades quickly. In my experience, I really don't remember any smell. The pad didn't last very long though because I'm a clutz and have a messy desk. The very day I got it, I managed to spill black calligraphy ink on the pad. I got most of it off, but it was black, water-resistant ink. It was still usable up until the time I managed to set a hot heat gun on the pad, which caused it to melt where the metal hit it. I intend to order another of these though if I can. The original color doesn't seem to be available anymore at the time of this review, but I am not particular about that. The mouse pad is cheap, it works, and I won't feel bad if I have another mishap with this one. I recommend this item for anyone who is looking for a functional budget mouse pad and is okay with the Plain Jane appearance.

It's... fine.

I got this mouse pad a few years ago, and I honestly never thought to write a review about it this entire time, until now, because I'm considering buying one more oriented for gaming. This is the most basic mouse pad you could probably ever buy. It's very simple and straightforward; there's nothing remarkable about it whatsoever. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not a good thing either. I think it smelled a little when I bought it, but that's pretty typical. It slides around a little, but I don't notice until my mouse comes off the pad because of how out of place it is, which is also pretty typical. It keeps my mouse from slowly scraping the finish off of my desk, which is exactly what a mouse pad is supposed to do. There's no funky design, or unusual feature of the mouse pad, it's... just a mouse pad.I don't need a replacement at all, really. I want one. This thing could probably go for years and years and I would continue to entirely forget that it's there until I inevitably have to adjust it's position once every few hours. I have nothing particularly negative to say about the pad (sliding aside), but nothing particularly good either. It's perfectly average, and it will serve its purpose well. I rated it 3 stars to reflect this fact: it serves it's purpose with a lack of noteworthy traits, aside from a couple hiccups here and there. You could get this mouse pad, and it will be no different than a mouse pad you get for free from your work, or the attic, or from a company you've never even heard of for $1.49.
