Great Notebook!!
By SGM on Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2011
I really love having this bigger notebook to use for all my classes. First, I have the Livescribe Echo pen, and even though it says for the pulse, it DOES work with the Echo pen as well! yay! Same dot paper and design as your single subject notebook. It is a bit heavier/bulky compared to the single one, which is not an issue for me because it beats having to carry around 3 single subject notebooks for each one of my classes. It has a total of 300 pages front and back and is separated into 100 pages per section by the 2 pocket dividers for a total of 6 very useful pockets. The front inside cover has the standard calculator, status and settings tool, and the back inside cover has the calculator, status, settings and keyboard too. All in all, exactly as the single subject notebook but its 3 in one and smaller than carrying 3 separate notebooks. As with any notebook, it is subject to normal wear and tear, and is about as sturdy as a notebook can be. Because I carry an enormous amount of books, my notebook took a good beating, but is still intact!! :) I did manage to tear one of the pocket dividers on the top because I overloaded it. The rings can be a pain if you have a lot of books; The rings on my notebook would catch and come undone on the bottom a few times, but I just bent them back into place. Overall, I highly recommend this notebook if you are taking several classes and don't want to carry individual notebooks, or if you know your going to be taking a lot of notes and want to keep it all in one notebook.

Serious students beware!

Oh Livescribe... yet again a could-be awesome product that disappoints on something so important. With the pens, it was the ink. With the notebooks, it's durability. The "spiral" construction is terrible. My back cover is hanging on for dear life, despite taking caution to protect the notebook. I keep it inside of a binder (not on the ring, just inside) inside of my backpack, but it's coming apart. The issue appears to be that there's nothing to stop the cover from coming off the "ring" because it isn't a true spiral. Another issue is the pockets for holding loose papers. They fit about 5-10 papers and then they rip. These issues would be minor if I weren't a student in an engineering discipline (or any other field of study that calls for near-permanent archival of lecture/book notes). As previously described, the binder is falling apart from the back frontward, which makes me very anxious to continue using it. As for the pockets: my homework assignments can be as many as 15 pages in length (not including additional attachments like MATLAB code), so that's what I need the pocket to be able to fit. It simply doesn't deliver. On an unrelated but still important (and positive) note: if you run out of ink, you can still record audio and "star" positions in the playback, you just can't record your written notes. I think that's pretty sweet. It got me out of a mess the other day. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to read pencil on these notebooks (not that you should plan on using pencil, but in a mid-lecture emergency, things happen). Livescribe, if you're listening (doubt it): make better notebooks! And offer notebooks without lines! And for goodness sake, make better ink!
