Amazing Headset??? I Think So!!!
By Sean on Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2014
For Starters...I LOVE this headset. Previously I used a Turtle Beach X11 that I bought new in 2010. It was a great headset for my Xbox360 and even though I had put it through its paces and some unneeded abuse, it served me well. I only replaced it because it had a very annoying humming sound all the time that developed in its later year or so. So I set off on my search for the optimal headset that didn't sacrifice comfort for functionality. I started with the Turtle Beach brand since I had enjoyed my last pair a lot. After sorting through the various price points and features I had found a couple that I had liked. Now just before I sold my Xbox I had purchased a pair of Turtle Beach X32 and was less than pleased. For a wireless headset, it ate batteries every time I blinked, and the headset itself squeezed my head to the point I would get headaches after 20-30 minutes of use. So as I found a couple of TB headsets I like the look and features of I set off to Google and YouTube for reviews. After watching several reviews and reading a lot of forums I began to see a common trend in these new TB headsets...they all squeezed your head. Having seen all that information I wrote off TB from my list of headsets and set off to find the next latest and greatest. This brings me to my next point, you know, the one you've been waiting to hear. I did a lot of Google searching over several days on comparable headsets to the TB headsets I had liked. I also, just for reference, search the best/top gaming headsets for PC to get a feel where each headset I could afford fell in the rankings. All these search lead to me Logitech. Now Logitech has been a main contender in the gaming market for a while and in general for longer than that, so I was not surprised to see a lot of god feedback coming from customers. I too was a Logitech user, a steering wheel that I absolutely love because of its craftsmanship and overall quality. So I began to narrow my field down to around $100 and see what I could get in the price range. I started comparing various Logitech headsets against each other and other brands. 9 out of 10 times, the Logitech headset came out on top. So Logitech it was...but which one, the g430, the g35, or the wireless g930? So I simply compared them against each other and almost every review I read had the g930 coming out on top unless wireless was not your style then the g35 was the victor. Being a fan of a non-cluttered desk and being very anal retentive about my cable management I dug into the reviews both text and YouTube, for the g930. Was the mic quality good? Did they feel comfortable on my head? How about the batteries, did they last? Everything I found was positive so I ordered them...then canceled my order, reviewed another few vids and reordered them...yes, I had second thoughts not 5 minutes after I ordered them the first time. Thanks to my Prime membership and a stroke of good luck, they arrived the next day, and I didn't pay for overnight shipping!!!! I'm impatient and love to test my new toys as soon as I get them, so I wasted no time setting them up for use. The packaging itself was great, they call it frustration free packaging. None of that heat pressed plastic garbage, cut a couple pieces of tape and slid everything right out. Plugged the sweet USB/charging hub into my computer and powered them on. The drivers self-installed and following the advise of several reviews, I downloaded the Gaming Software that allows you to make changes to the profiles. Now the sound test, I slapped on Spotify and cranked out the tunes. They sounded great! So onto a game to test the surround. So I wasn't very pleased with the surround, everyone talking sounded like they were talking into a tin can, and overall the sound quality wasn't that great, but flip it back to stereo and everything sounded amazing. So how long would this battery last? Well out of the box I got about 2 hours out of it before I had to charge them...but I was in the middle of a gaming session with my friends. No worries, the play and charge feature worked flawlessly. With the headset plugged in, it felt like a typical wired headset thanks to the angled charging cord that pushed the bulk of the cable out away from my head. In about 3 hours, while still using them heavily, I was fully charged and ready to ditch the cable. So how long did the battery last? Well, playing games, talking to my friends in a chat service and streaming music all at once, I got about 5-6 hours out of it. So it was a little short of the 10 hours Logitech claims but I also had a lot of sounds and there time frame even says "Up To 10 Hours" depending on what you're doing. So the mic? Well I asked my friends how I sounded and they said fine, so I recorded myself a little message and played it back, sounded just fine. One thing I loved about my TB headsets was the voice monitoring, which kept me from getting noiseless syndrome, when your yell into a mic because you can't hear how loud you are talking. So how would this work for the g930? Easy, remember the gaming software I mentioned earlier? You simply turn up the side tone volume on the sound menu to your desired level and you can hear yourself so you don't scream. Well If you made it this far you are obviously genuinely interested in my opinion on this headset so I suppose I will now spill the beans. I am in love with this headset. The fit, the form, the build quality, sound quality, overall use friendliness of them is great. Sure the software could use some tweaking but we're not hear to discuss software. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, if you are looking for a great wireless or even just a great headset around $100, then I would strongly recommend these. Plus with Logitech's 3 year limited warranty, you have 3 years for any defects to surface and they will fix them. I hope this review has helped you make a decision on your headset.

There are many things I love about this headset and many things I dislike about this headset. For the Amazon Daily deal ($70) I am satisfied enough to keep the headset but I do not think it is worth the normal retail price or is as good as some make it out to be. I would like a wireless multi-purpose headset that can work with PC, TV, Gaming console, etc that is within the right price range but that doesn't even seem possible. I have the Turtle Beach X12, which I got on a black friday for $35 and was my entry into gaming headsets, but it wasn't wireless. I recently got the Tritton Warhead 7.1 Wireless headset and while I could get it to do PC/TV/Gaming Console it had numerous issues and I ended up returning it. Finally I decided to give the Logitech headset a try and while knowing it would be PC only, again for the price I wasn't too upset that it wouldn't work on a gaming console I never use. Now I'll list the Pros and Cons and a little insight on how I feel about each of them. Pros + Great Wireless Range + Great noise cancellation + No hiss + Decent Microphone + Comfortable + Quality construction The headset itself is comfortable and I don't feel my head getting too hot like I found on the Tritton (would also make my ears/head sweat). The wireless range allows you to get off the couch and go into the kitchen or another room within reason, audio will finally cut out when walls are interfering with the signal but again 100x better than I found with the Tritton. The headset does a good job of keeping outside noise out of your experience and the microphone provides decent audio when playing with others. I don't experience any hiss in the speakers when audio is absent, something I've encountered with all other headsets and can get annoying. Headset seems well constructed and I love that there are no finger-print loving materials used. Neutral ~ Button layout/feel This is almost a negative because powering the device on/off means you actually have to find the buttons with the headset itself off. The volume wheel is also not very responsive. Cons - Battery life - Recharge system - Sound quality - Horrible headset software - Doesn't shut off on its own There are a long list of cons for this headset and the reason for only 3 stars. If it wasn't for the great deal and wanting a wireless headset so bad I would return these in a heartbeat. The battery life is pitiful and unlike the Tritton you cannot just pop in another battery. If you are using this headset at a computer desk then you probably won't mind the recharge system, but having a wireless headset makes little sense if you're 3 ft from the computer IMO. I use this headset on my television while I'm about 8ft away on the couch. The cord fully extended will reach and allow me to use the headset plugged in but the design and incorporating the wireless dongle into it, again is pretty annoying. I've owned logitech devices with those longer USB dongles and they seem to be prone to breakage, and I just keep it plugged into my PC and not use the "charging system" to plug it in. The sound quality of this headset is mediocre and I suspect the small speakers are the reason for this. It cannot compare to either headsets mentioned in this and I am 100% sure the "7.1" is activated because I also confirmed that in the Headset software. The headset software doesn't seem very compatible with Windows 8 and actually causes a lot of problems with my headset, as well as making repetitive windows connect/disconnect noises, and finally I uninstalled it all together. The software only allows you to do very few things like program the side buttons and use the voice morpher. The "space squirrel" voice seems to be the only interesting voice while the others are hard to hear or do very little morphing and you only get 6 to choose from unless you want to pay $30+ for more. Lastly, the headset itself doesn't shut off when not detecting audio which means it will continue to run down the battery if you forget to manually turn it off. Meaningless mention: Every headset I've ever had, minus this Logitech, has had some type of method where I could use the Television as the output device. This enables all the sound from Xbox, PC, and the Television itself to be transmitted all on one device (and clean install) since they're all connected to the TV via HDMI (Trick if you didn't know). The logitech works off USB and that doesn't work on the televisions USB, even for just audio and no microphone.
