Bassjump will fill your generally empty life with absolute auditory pleasure, also, very well designed!
By Lippy on Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2014
I have been lusting to purchase one of these since I had my first white macbook many years back and finally got one as Amazon started selling them (I'm an international customer). Had a bug caused by chrome and HTML5 videos earlier on, but they released the drivers in a very short duration (top class support and quick updates). Has some short latency (no scientific measurement, but its perceptible) when playing html5 vids on chrome. Again, these minor problems are mostly browser related - you won't get them if you use an offline media player. That said, the long wait, the long lusting, the built up expectations were all met and in fact, exceeded. The casing is beautiful and discreet and the speaker can be placed anywhere on your desk without looking out of place. It pairs wonderfully with the Retina 15's speakers adequately filling in the bass range. Quite a bit to spend on what's a USB speaker, but if you're on the fence on this rationalizing in such a manner, believe me, you'd be pretty damn happy if you got yourself one! It's an awesome and well thought of device in a perfectly sized package. The bassjump as a whole gives an unimaginably higher magnitude of pleasure than the sum of its parts could (essentially a usb soundcard, loudspeaker and audio routing software). That said, don't bother looking for imitators, this is a well differentiated high quality product that seems to have no substitutes! Only thing that makes me sad is that I didn't have this awesome device in my life earlier! Other odd thoughts that would be proven wrong once you get this: 1. Pluging in the USB cable into your mac when you get home after a long tiring day at work: have almost plugged it in everytime! Even before the power plug. 2. Occupies space on my desk: its very unobtrusive and visually clean, so it won't create a mess 3. Bluetooth speakers/desktop speakers would provide a more complete solution to having a proper audio system: You'll be glad to know that the middle ground is much sweeter. Apologies if this review seems like I've gotten bewitched by the bassjump or twelvesouth, I'm honestly telling you that this device is many steps above all the cheap or poorly thought of e-junk.

Worked Well Prior To Mountain Lion Update
By Lost in BC on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2012
The unit worked well prior to my update to Mountain Lion (10.8) and it fits in nicely with my other Twelve South gear. I have the Twelve South 12-1215 HoverBar Version 2 Adjustable Arm for iPad 2 and iPad 3, Twelve South (12-0902) BackPack and Twelve South (12-1101) MagicWand Connects Magic Track Pad to Wireless Keyboard, which all work as advertised and make this product not working as advertised under 10.8 a little harder to swallow. I understand that Twelve South is a hardware and design company, but with only one software-dependent offering, I expect it work with the newest OS, especially given the clientele. I am using this product with an early 2011 MBP (2.2 quad, 16gb, 256 SSD, 6750M) connected to an Apple Thunderbolt Display . After the update, the sound prefane doesn't maintain settings to combine with 'Display Audio' and comes across muddled, as I would imagine the audio source is stuck between 'Built-In Audio' and 'Display Audio'. I would have rated the product a 4 or 5 prior to my experience with Mountain Lion (10.8), as it was low profile and delivered what was expected. I have spoken with Twelve South customer service and received beta drivers and a few generic troubleshooting tips (e.g. using the uninstallation program and reinstalling the package fresh, connecting/reconnecting the audio source, booting with Twelve South (12-1109) BassJump 2 connected or connecting after OS has loaded) over the course of several months, but to no avail. After months of it not working, it's back in the original box, presumably waiting to be given to a friend or family member who is uninterested or incapable of updating to 10.8. I will look around Amazon for another space-saving audio option for my desk.
