Best in motion

I've used a few cheap monitor arms in my life, and they are generally ok if you want to leave your monitor in one spot, but barely ok. This arm is expensive, but honestly for something you can keep using its worth the premium. I always thought a monitor arm is a monitor arm but this product changed my perception of that. This arm has very smooth motion, very easy to move it around and dial in the right setting you need for the situation. Once you got it positioned it is extremely sturdy and stays where you set it. You can continually adjust this thing with ease, no need to mess with tension screws or jank actions. It looks slick in matte black, which is a lot nicer than the plastic or shiny materials used in other mounts. Not really a big deal but its sometimes the small details. Installation was easier than any other arm i've installed. The parts are laid out properly and the way it goes together in parts is a lot more smooth than other designs. Its pretty much 3 lego pieces and you're done, the base is just a base so its not top heavy while you're trying to secure it to your desk. Monitor cant be nut locked in place so you have to remove the entire last segment to replace your screen, but that adds to the stability of the monitor as it doesn't shake at all. Having a screw to disable rotation is great for my OCD tendencies, you can get very slight rotation but getting it fully strait takes zero effort, no need for rulers.

Perfect for the 24 inch Cintiq Pro… IF…

You don’t plan on moving this thing very often or very far in your work environment. So, I purchased this arm mount after reading so many reviews and forum answers to less expensive Wacom tablet space saving questions. All answers seemed to point to this arm if you didn’t want to shell out $350- $500 for a Wacom brand arm or stand. I should have just spent once and assembled once. Don’t get me wrong this ergotron arm can support the weight of your tablet for sure, it can spin 360 degrees(careful with your cords), it can tilt at the neck plate to a completely flat working surface and it can move decently back and forth or side to side along the arm’s lengthy terrain. But for me, these were the main cons: -You can’t adjust the neck plate’s spinning range of motion and it is extremely too sensitive for my needs. With a soft touch this thing will spin almost 180 degrees even dragging the 15 pound weight of the tablet. There’s no adjustable screw for this. -You only get extreme friction or extremely loose settings on the arm lifting screw. There’s no in between in the unit I purchased. So moving the arm at the lift axis either takes both hands applying pressure to the sides of your tablet or almost no strength at all and only concern for your desk surface or keyboard/mouse/etc. Also pay attention to the directions. When it says you have to turn that adjustment torque screw 40 revolutions to reach tighter friction for heavier loads, it’s gonna take at least 40 revolutions. -the main elbow of this unit doesn’t seem to fully lock into the socket of the second arm. There’s a fair amount of space between the connection that just doesn’t inspire confidence. -Not enough cushioning between the adjustment plate that anchors to the bottom of your desk and the base that sits on your desk for my comfort. For the price point you get some pretty heavy and bare machined parts with no surface protection. Given that this is my 2nd non Wacom brand desk arm, I think I’ve learned my lesson. I would def NOT recommend this arm for anyone with a work related drawing screen tablet. For now I’m debating taking this thing apart, after already taking the previous mistake apart for a return, or saving this one as a back up for an additional monitor down the road.
