Excellent Drive
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2014
I've had the LaCie 4TB Porsche drive for about a year now and it has been the most reliable drive I've owned. I've used Western Digital and Seagate and been dissatisfied in every purchase. I looked at a Seagate prior to buying this but many of the reviews indicated a flaw in the 3tb and larger drives. As one customer stated, it can be loud. I keep it with my computer in a separate room so I never really noticed until I read that review. If your going to try sleeping in the same room then you might want something else. This drive is like most new electronics that will work with 120v or 240v with an outlet adapter which is a feature I look for as I try to move frequently. I use this as a media drive so it gets constant use but I don't do backups or anything like that. Updated: I now have 2 4TB versions of this drive and both work perfectly. After a year of using the first drive, no problems to report. It's kind of nice having a drive that I don't need to contact customer support to fix. Seagate and LaCie are merged now so only time will tell on whether LaCie continues to make outstanding products.

I hate it. If I hadn't spent $150 for it ...
By Rance J DeLong on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2017
This drive has been nothing but problems. I first had it connected to my Apple Airport Time Capsule as an external USB drive for Time Machine backups. After awhile, although the drive was still powered on, Time Machine could not find the drive. So, I decided to connect it directly to a new Mac to use as a Time Machine volume. After awhile, the drive becomes invisible to time machine and to OS X disk utility. I have to power off the drive and or restart the computer for it to be visible again. The complete opposite of set it and forget it. I hate it. If I hadn't spent $150 for it I wouldn't use it.
