Perfect for Amazon Dot
By Chris In Jersey on Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2017
Bought this speaker to go next to the Amazon Dot - didn't know until I got it that it actually fits nicely on top of the Dot. I'm sure the manufacturers would say don't cover the Dot controls, but I haven't had a problem with using it this way. The speaker itself is an always on, must be plugged into power and requires audio in via an audio cable (one was included with my speaker though there was no mention of it in the description). As with the Amazon Dot - it is best to always have both plugged in so they are ready to be used via voice command. The speaker quality is nice - not great, not terrible, but perfect for a mid-size room. If you are a sound quality picky person then you should probably get a different speaker. I am not terribly picky and was almost fine with the Dot's speaker, but wanted just a bit more volume for music and this speaker works perfectly. The only slight negative of using the speaker on top of the Dot is that it does ever so slightly make the microphones less sensitive. It this a problem? I don't think so, I just speak every so slightly louder when saying the Echo's wake word. I highly recommend this Logitech Z50 speaker for use with the Dot. I think it makes the Dot very similar to the Echo at a much more affordable price than buying another Echo unit.

Does not do what it says it will do.
By Laura Kelly on Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2019
I bought this so I could watch BritBox. The sound on my computer is terrible and the speaker is on the underside of the machine so I can't hear it clearly. This product says in words AND pictures that it will work just plugged in to the computer- needs no power cord! I knew it was too good to be true. It only works when plugged in to both things. So you have all these cords to manage. It works OK. Sound is fine. Not the best, but good enough. There is no volume control on the speaker at all. Nothing. The only way to control the volume is to diminish the image you are watching and use the speaker's volume control that shows up on your screen. So you have multiple volume controls to manage: the one on your computer, the one that is displayed in the picture you are watching , and now also the one for your speaker. If you are lounging around and your computer is over there, and you are over here, you have to get up and go over to our computer and mess around with the sound. A simple knob on the speaker would be so convenient. Really dumb. I wish I had bought another speaker. I thought this one did everything I wanted. I read every line and lots of reviews. . Don't know how I messed up.
