I am an extensive gamer / computer user. This headset meets my needs in multiple ways. I have been using this headset now for about 5 months so I can write a proper review. PROS -The 5.1 is distinct, and every sound from every angle can be heard clearly. This blows away any 7.1 virtual surround headset I've ever owned for positional audio. -The sound quality is great. Equalizer settings with the built in software allow you to adjust highs and lows for your taste. I found that turning on equalizer and leaving it at the default setting is best for most games. I originally thought that the bass was lacking, but after playing some rounds of BF4 and feeling the explosions rumble, I know otherwise. -Noise cancelling on these headphones is excellent, and are very comfortable for long sessions. They cover my entire ears, and nothing outside can be heard, only what is coming through your headphones. These headphones are extremely comfortable for any size head or ear. -The microphone quality is really good. Im not sure about other complaints about mic quality, but I do a lot of skype chat with fellow gamers and they have always said I come in clearly and there is no distortion. The voice changing feature is a great bonus to mess with your friends online! -Bluetooth to my phone!! FINALLY a headset that incorporates this. This is such a wonderful feature when I am gaming, and I get a call, at the push of a button i can answer the call through my headset and have a conversation, simultaneously it will automatically mute the sounds in game, and will auto resume once I hang up. No more having to take my headset or hands off the keyboard to answer a call. Amazing feature and wish more headsets did this. -The ability to switch from headset to desktop speakers with push of a button, another really amazing feature that most headsets dont incorporate. This headset has a built in sound card so it allows you to run your desktop speakers into it. No more messing with control panel settings to switch, or unplugging headset to switch to headphones etc. CONS - Manually switching from 5.1 to stereo. This is kind of an annoying feature, but because these are true 5.1 headphones, when I switch back to my desktop speakers I have to go into the software and change my profile to use 2 channel sound instead of 5.1. If I do not, then I miss sounds coming from multi channels in games to my 2.1 setup. I wish there would be some updated software that allowed the option to change itself when it recognizes I am set to my desktop speakers, since its controlled by the Roccat controller itself. - Non-braided cable from controller to headset. It can get tangled in a loop and because its not braided is sticky. This would have made this headset an absolute premium headset, not sure why Roccat skipped on this. Its not bad though, just get yourself a headset rest for your desk to keep this on when not in use. -Answering a phone call from the Roccat controller to my phone if I'm switched to my desktop speakers. I cannot hit the button to switch to my headset if I've already answered the call, I'm stuck having to switch off my Bluetooth on my phone. I believe this can also be corrected with a software update to the drivers. -annoying pop sound when computer is rebooted or starts up. Overall these are great headphones for the price. You will pay more than a virtual surround headset, but you are getting true positional audio and for gaming there is nothing better. If you are an audiophile or just want something for music or movies, this is probably not your headset. If you want an all around experience for games, movies, music etc, and your primary focus is multi channel surround sound gaming, this is a really great option. The build quality and sound quality make this headset worth the price of admission, even if its not the perfect headset.

2 defective pairs in a row... Come on Roccat, get it together.
By Jason on Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2015
So the first pair I ordered had a faulty left earcup. It would cut in and out over and over again. I went through the testing of the device with Roccat & made sure I had the latest drivers and finally Roccat told me to RMA it. So I sent it back to Amazon for a replacement. Hey, crap happens and sometimes you get a faulty set of headphones. Second one I got I attempted to use the bluetooth feature and every time the other party couldn't hear me. I chocked it up to Apple's iPhone being wonky as it is with bluetooth devices. Finally after trying it out for a while I attempted to use Ventrillo and behold, no one could hear a word I said. I went through the settings. Attempted to record my voice with Audacity, tested the device on another computer and of course, the mic on this unit is dead. That's 2 failed headphones from Roccat so far. I am returning this one to Amazon for a 3rd pair. Which I shouldn't have to do on a $170 pair of headphones Roccat! This will be their final test, if this final pair works I'll amend this review. I am certainly willing to accept that I got 2 bad pair of headphones in a row, hey crap happens right? But come on Roccat, these things are $180. I shouldn't have had to return the first pair. Roccat needs to spend a little more on their unit testing.
