Awesome for the price, definitely consider.

I got this monitor on sale and so for the price I paid (Just over $150) this is definitely a five star product. This monitor is very good and provides you with a clear and crisp screen as well as a good viewing angle. The size of this screen is very nice and allows for a good resolution-to-size ratio. It reacts quickly and I have not noticed anything odd or wrong with the product thus far. I would like to state however that the button placement as well as the settings does bother me a slight bit. They are placed on the size and you can't always tell when the monitor is on as well as the settings being rather a pain to access as there are no clear indications as to what does what just dots. As for the technical details this screen is viable for almost any game as well as movies etc. It is only 60hz, which for some people isn't high enough, but for the vast majority it is more than enough. A lot of people think you need the best graphics cards or processors or even monitors for video games, this is not true. The large majority of video games will play very smoothly on this monitor and unless you like to buy the best of everything or have a large amount of money to spend this will more than work for you. Anything with an asterisk(*) I will go into further detail about below. -View angle 5/5 -Resolution 5/5 -Bevel 4/5 -Settings 4/5 -Buttons 4/5 -Inputs 5/5 (includes HDMI) -Compatibility 4/5* So about the compatibility, this isn't a direct complaint to the monitor itself, however I felt it should be stated anyway. If you intend to use this monitor with windows 8/8.1 it will definitely work, but you may notice some oddities. Due to the nature of Windows 8 there is a lot of transparency and you may notice that some windows you will be able to see through slightly. This doesn't affect the use too much, however it may bug some people. I for one switched back to Windows 7 and do miss some features of 8, but I am going to wait for Windows 10 before changing again. Overall this monitor is wonderful and if you can pick it up for under $160 I would definitely recommend it, I may at some point purchase two more and run three of them for gaming.

You get what you pay for

Update: After using this monitor for about 2 weeks I could not longer stand the washed out image, blurry text, poor color, extremely slow and jumpy frames, etc. and ultimately ended up paying to return this monitor. I fail to see how so many people rate this monitor so highly, sure it works and has the features you'd expect, but the primary factor should be the image quality and this one is just not up to par in my opinion. Following the Lagom monitor quality test (look it up): Contrast: 5/10 - reds were blended in a lot at the higher end. Not a solid smooth transition on other colors either. Sharpness: 4/10 - not a clear definition of sharpness and no good grey blending as the test suggests (and how it looks on my other monitors) Gamma: 6/10 - no clear definition of where the colors blend, all together looks washed out Black level: 7/10 - Darker colors all look black White Saturation: 8/10 - Not too bad on this one Gradient: 6/10 - Just looks like mush, not a smooth transition from whites to black Response Time: 1/10 - Absolutely horrible, fails on all tests. You can clearly see this when watching a movie and the monitor struggles to keep up and jumps a lot. Viewing angle: 6/10 - The text looks bad enough looking head on, but maybe 30 degrees to the side it's very blurry. Ultimately I got this Viewsonic monitor and absolutely love it! They truly are towards the top of the monitor quality charts and definitely still a great value. The screen and image quality are absolutely superior and it only costs a couple dollars more than this one. ViewSonic VX2703MH-LED 27-Inch LED-Lit LCD Monitor, Full HD 1080p, 3ms, HDMI/DVI/VGA, Speakers, VESA --------- Edited after a few days of use. I plan on returning this monitor and buying a higher end monitor for gaming and overall better picture quality. I had never heard of this brand but the reviews seemed mostly good so I went for it, they have higher end models that have good reviews and performance but this is on their low end. The monitor build quality is good, but the picture quality is not what you'd expect. The picture is very bright, but the colors are washed out and not very vivid. The darks are not rich enough. The text is blurry and not crisp. There is noticeable blur and jumping on any video or game. I used different inputs, different computers, different cables seeing if there was some other factor but all results were similar. I compared identical videos with identical settings on my laptop and the results on this monitor were noticeably worse, though my laptop has a smaller screen and higher resolution anyways, so that isn't a fair comparison, but still I would think that a good 27" monitor wouldn't have chunks of pixels and blur as you watch high quality videos. The monitor simply is a budget monitor and not ideal for gaming, reading, or videos. I suppose if you don't care about these factors and are an average consumer then this monitor will work out fine for you and I would recommend this to you in that case. Pros: -Bright large screen -Matte finish on the screen, gives a much better picture without as much glare -3 inputs (VGA, DVI, and HDMI), this is a great feature and some monitors don't have HDMI input -Headphone jack (This only works with HDMI input, and with the right PC settings) Cons: -Text is not crisp and lines are blurry -Pixilated image -Colors not vibrant -Blurry image on movement, even a bit jumpy -The button and setting navigation took a little bit to get used to since the buttons are on back, but it works fine. For the serious gamer, or photo editor, or people who prefer nice quality images you definitely want to consider another monitor, but be prepared to pay at least $60 more. I'm considering a better monitor as an investment since they to tend to last a long time.
