Hard to find in stores anymore

It appears they've discontinued the concept of personal cloud storage drives for some reason. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon. Easy setup. Connects to your home WiFi network for access from multiple devices.

Does not do what it says, for a personal cloud, this drive has been a complete failure.

May 2018 Update:I purchased this drive in December of 2014. I expected the drive to last longer than 3.5 years, but it has not. It has never worked well, never working as explained in all of the WD advertising videos, and now it's a complete failure. It just decided one day, to no longer connect to our network. No more blue light, just yellow. If it won't connect, there is no way to access the drive. There is no recovery method, there is no sata connection. Anything we saved on this drive, is not gone. What a completely worthless experience.------------------This drive is incredibly slow. We are talking about EPIC-ALLY slow. I have changed my views about it, to not recommended. If you have fewer files, then certainly don't waste your money on a 6TB drive size.To make a long story short. My first My Cloud lasted about 30 minutes, before it would no longer access any of it's internal settings via the User Interface page. WD was quick to send a replacement and Return Authorization for the defective drive. The replacement drive, would not work out of the box. WD tech support took control of my computer remotely, and after three hours got it to work. I couldn't believe they sent me a replacement drive that didn't work. When listening to music on computers within my network, there are 3-4 second pauses in the music as my preferred music program (WinAmp) accesses this drive over the network. I do not notice these pauses when accessing other computers on my network and listening to music on their hard drives. These only occur on the My Cloud.I have a large MP3 (audio) collection (~ 300K songs ~ 2TB). It has taken an excess of six days to copy my collection to this drive. My synchronization program estimates another two days to complete. Normal music back-ups to local USB2 drives take ~ 24-30 hours. I would have thought that WD would have engineered a better way to transfer large amounts of data to a 6TB drive, than remotely (through the router). It does not do what it's supposed to do. Store a tremendous amount of files inside my house, and make them available anywhere I have access to the internet. I don't need to be worried that if I lose my android device, that someone else will have all my pictures -- as they are stored safely at my house. While on vacation, I attempted to upload 5GB of pictures that we took and transferred to the notebook computer. Using the hotel's Wifi, 1.5Mbps speed, the copying (upload) process was estimated at > 2 days. Not exactly a workable number when using a phone's data-plan. Did I mention, Speed is NOT what my My Cloud is good for..My Mycloud refuses to be located by any computer running the WD software, but I can map to it as a network device. My laptop that was able to connect to it for the picture test, now reports I have no mycloud in my profile. Nothing. I should have taken advantage of Amazon's extended return policy for holiday purchases, but I did not - and I regret purchasing this WD drive.
