I have used mostly HP printers in the past and have always been satisfied with them

I purchased this Printer on 7-3-15, it was shipped by Beach Camera the same day & I received it 4 days later. Not quite as fast as it would have been had Amazon stocked it themselves (since I have Prime), but I didn't mind the wait. I have used mostly HP printers in the past and have always been satisfied with them. This printer replaces a HP AIO that I bought refurbished several years ago that stopped working - I'm sure if I could find someone that worked on printers, it might be an easy fix, but I haven't figured it out, so I just got a new one. I shopped around for the best price & of course the best price was here at Amazon - I also purchased the Extended Warranty since it was so inexpensive as an add-on. I don't expect to have any problems, but for the low cost, why not have that extra assurance? Anyway, on to the review of this Printer! I DID NOT use the included CD Rom to download the drivers to my PC (I am running Windows 7) --- I went directly to hp.123.com and downloaded the drivers from their website. I did that because I wanted the most updated drivers for the Printer. I had absolutely NO problems with the download & it didn't take long. Of course I did set it up on WiFi and if I remember correctly, I did have to put in my Password for my Router -- a very simple process! My PC immediately recognized the Printer and I printed out a test page - no problems!! I have the printer in the living room fairly close to my Router (just happens to be that way, not so much by design) and my PC is in my bedroom adjacent to that room so the distance isn't that far. I don't think that it would be a problem if it was further away - that would depend on my WiFi signal strength. I haven't as yet printed any pictures from the Photo tray, so I can't attest to whether or not that will present any problems - I don't expect any. I will update my review if it does. I actually like the way that the Paper tray (once loaded with paper) actually covers the paper to keep dust off of the paper because that can definitely cause problems down the road once it gets on the rollers that load the paper. Great idea, HP! I don't print a lot like I once did, but I am sure that this will meet my needs just fine. Every now and then I do actually power off the printer if I don't expect to use it frequently --- I've done that a few times and then sent a print job to it hoping that it might turn itself on and start printing.....not going to happen! Wishful thinking on my part. Once I turned the power on, it printed my request just fine without any problems! I have used it to copy some items and it did a great job as well. Recently, I was on my iPad, and needed to print something out, so I just hit print and it immediately found the printer on my network without me having to download any App to my IPad. I do have the latest updates on my iPad, so I'm sure that helps. It printed out what I wanted, so I am very pleased. As far as any printer noise goes, it is basically whisper quiet. If it is powered off, and I turn the power on, it goes thru the start up cycle very quickly and very quietly unlike my previous printer which was noisy! During the Print cycle, this printer is really quiet --- that is the way it should be!! So far, I have been very satisfied with my purchase and would definitely recommend this Printer! DO download the printer drivers from HP's website (hp.123.com) to make sure that you get the latest drivers --- it is the easiest way for a trouble-free WiFi set up!!! One last thing, I did not sign up for the HP ink program, for some users depending on how you use the printer, it would be a good deal. For me, I don't need the monthly fee even if it only starts at $4.99 (maybe it is $9.99). I am not worried about the cartridge drying out before I use it up, I've never had that problem in the past. With the Ink supply program, you are charged for however many pages you print per month depending on the plan that you choose. If for some reason that you only print a single paragraph on a page, that counts as one page of use. So, if you accidentally sent a page that only said ' hello ' -- that would count as one page of use. A misprint like that isn't likely to happen often, but I don't like that idea. Like I said, for most people, the Ink Supply program is probably a good thing. Also be aware that if you have signed up for the Program, and you decide to quit and buy your own cartridges, the Cartridges from the program will stop working (regardless on how new they are) because it is linked via the Internet and HP wants your money. Most people may not know that in case you ever decide to stop the program once you've started. If you shop around the 'Net, you can find Remanufactured Cartridges (genuine HP - just refilled) at a very reasonable cost -- I have never had any problems with my previous printers recognizing them. Sometimes the printer might reject the Cartridge saying it is not genuine HP or it is empty, but if you do a Google search, there are some steps to bypass that fault and the Printer will accept the Cart. just fine, it isn't a hard process, really! I always go with the XL Carts. but I may refill my own as I have done in the past - I can save a lot of money refilling my own Carts. I didn't mean to be so long-winded, but there's my 2 cents worth......

Office Space anyone??
By The Drizzle on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2017
For us, HP is something like the abusive boyfriend. Their products are mediocre at best and yet we continue to take them back, always with the forlorn hope that their newest headache will be an improvement... only to be once again totally underwhelmed. So what IS the problem pray tell? Well, for starters, we had the printer for less than a year until it decided to mysteriously die. That's right, it simply stopped working. After talking to HP support for nearly an hour, during which time they had me perform a series of humiliating tasks (plug it in, unplug it, try a different wall socket, etc.) despite the fact that I had clearly stated that I had already performed this song and dance BEFORE I called them. As my patience wore thin, the printer wasn't any closer to being fixed than when we started. In the end, they begrudgingly accepted the old printer in return for a brand-spanking-refurbished one straight from wherever. This one performed more or less adequately (remember we're talking about HP here, so that means it worked 7 times out of 10) for about...maybe four months or so. Then the old issues came back, my wife couldn't print from her MAC, it would mysteriously forget how to talk to my WiFi (use your words HP!), scanner would only work when the temperature was balmy 75 degrees and ONLY if I wore a red shirt (okkkk, I'm exaggerating about that one, but it isn't THAT far from the truth). Which leads me to the most recent problem. It simply will not print. I downloaded the HP's own Print and Scan Doctor software, which worked for awhile and now does nothing (perhaps the doctor realized this patient needs a lethal injection of morphine), I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and disrupted the household WiFi connectivity all for naught. It simply refuses to print anything but the occasional test page. It mocks me from my control panel with the word "offline". There are support forums on HP's website for this particular problem, but they must have taken the remedy instructions from a graduate Computer Engineer course at MIT. Furthermore, judging by the frustrated consumers that post there, these fixes are dubious at best. So there we have it, an industrial size paperweight that I simply cannot use. However, the joke is on HP, for I will find a use for this junky abomination. After I have lightly caressed it with a blunt object of my choice, I will paint it an alluring metallic black (heavy and sloppy on the paint) to symbolize all my sweat and tears expended in dealing with this... thing. I will then call it something sensational, like "Tech Gotterdammerung" or "HP Gestalt". It will be my opus, my statement of man's triumph over the devices that enslave him in the wireless age.Nah... screw it, I'll just trash it, for I will not curse my local Goodwill with its malign presence.Fin....
