Game changer....wish I had this when I was in school, but happy I have it in my career.

I love this thing! #1 problem with note taking in the past was that I almost never looked at my notes. Writing made it easier to remember, but trying to find it later was too hard so I wouldn't unless I had to. With the N2 it is SO much easier. They have a 'tagging' system and the app can search your transcribed text and if that doesn't help, there is a calendar broken down to the minute of the day so you can go back to those notes you took in last Friday's AM meeting (or class)...oh and you can do that any time any where (as long as you consistently sync the pen with your phone or tablet). Transcription works OK, you have to write neatly and in a straight line.Writing with the pen is fine. Like any new pen it takes a bit to get used to it and once you do it is just writing. I looked at the livescribe pens, but they were all too bulky and looked cheap. This single piece of aluminum is simple and brilliant. Makes me look forward to taking notes. The app is pretty simple to use and intuitive. I have seen reviews complaining about the lack of functionality around the transcribed text, but I think they may have been using an older version of the app. I am able to search my notes, email or text the transcription and copy the text into my phones clipboard to paste in other apps (this is where a web app would be awesome!).#1 draw back is the lack of a web based application for your notes. There is an app for apple and android, but I can't access them on my laptop where it would be most convenient to edit the transcribed text.#2 is paper costs as it is a bit pricey and the quality of the notebooks I have gotten so far was poor. The alternatives that don't require special paper are too clunky to be a real world solution for me. It would be great if N2 and Livescribe could collaborate on a single paper standard that could be licensed to other manufactures, but I believe the long term costs of their notepads maybe a big part of both companies business models.Still had to give the pen a five star review and look forward to many years of service from this product. (I better for $180)

Terrible Service Terrible Company
By Daniel William Finley on Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2018
The product does as advertised. It's a really great pen and works well, even with Moleskin paper tablets.I wish the company was as good as the pen. After using it for a couple months, the pen broke - although it could still write, it would not connect with the app, and ceased to record any strokes I made. I contacted customer service to get it fixed, but they did not believe there was an issue. I asked for a refund or replacement. They dilly dallied with that too. So I contacted Amazon. Amazon said to return the pen, with everything in it, and that they would send me a replacement. I sent it in, and once they got it, they said it was too late to get a refund or replacement -- and would not send it back!At least, they made no mention of intending to send it back. Maybe they will but thought it wasn't important to tell me. I was ecstatic to get and use the pen because it really is a great product. Too bad the company is treats its customers like trash.
