I used one of these to swap out the fan on my wife's CPU cooler. It went from annoyingly loud to barely audible.

I found the price premium isn't worth it. I have this installed on a Dell as a CPU cooler. It works, but sometimes the BIOS, upon booting, will report the fan as failed. This is probably due to the fact that the fan is using very little power draw (slow speed) that the BIOS can't detect the "proper" fan. I'm keeping the fan because I can't stand the noisy fan that came with the computer. Also, there weren't many choices for quiet fans in this size category.
