By Keicy Rafael Beltre Feliz on Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2025
I’ve been using the Amazon Basics 8-Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder for several months now, and it has been a fantastic addition to my home office setup. Whether I’m dealing with personal documents or old credit cards, this shredder handles everything with ease. Performance & Capacity: This shredder can handle up to 8 sheets of 20-pound bond paper at a time, and it also shreds credit cards (one at a time), staples, and small paper clips. The cross-cut design ensures that shredded materials are reduced to approximately 0.2 x 0.7 inches, providing a P-4 security level, which is ideal for most personal and small office needs. shreddermachineusa.com +3 Amazon +3 Amazon +3 Amazon +1 Amazon +1 Run Time & Cooling: The shredder operates with a 3-minute continuous run time followed by a 30-minute cool-down period. This feature is particularly useful during extended shredding sessions, as it helps prevent overheating and ensures longevity. Amazon +2 Amazon +2 PCMAG +2 Ease of Use & Maintenance: The 3.7-gallon bin is easy to empty, and the lift-off top design makes maintenance straightforward. Some users have noted that while the bin is easy to empty, the small window can make it difficult to gauge when it's full. While it's not the quietest option available, it's not excessively loud either. It's suitable for home office environments where occasional noise is acceptable. Overall Experience: Overall, the Amazon Basics 8-Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder offers excellent value for its price. It combines reliable performance with user-friendly features, making it an excellent choice for personal or small office use. If you're looking for an affordable and efficient shredder, this model is highly recommended.

This is actually a Short-Strip shredder, not a true Crosscut
By kellamjaz on Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2025
This shredder makes ¼ inch wide strips about 1–2 inches long. A genuine crosscut shredder would make ¼ inch by ¼ inch or smaller bits, which are much more secure. Strips also fill up the bin faster, so you have to empty it more often. Item listing claims it can shred 8 sheets of paper at once. Not for me... but I use 24-pound paper, not the usual 20 or 22 pound.
