Only improvement would be a backlit keyboard. Pay attention to find the dongle.

Review of Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch With Easy Media Control and Built-in Touchpad, HTPC Keyboard for PC-connected TV, Windows, Android, Chrome OS, Laptop, Tablet - Black Since I trust Logitech keyboards and mice, I opted to order this to be used as an alternative to my Firestick remote when the remote doesn’t cover all the features. This wireless keyboard connected right away to the “almost hidden” dongle provided. It allowed me to type, have a mouse, and do lots of functions that I couldn’t do before and the others much more easily. I like that it takes 2 AA batteries (cheap ones are included). It’s lightweight, but it is slightly larger than anticipated. There is no backlight feature, which would have really added to the value of this. As I stated earlier, the dongle is almost hidden. So don’t quickly unpack this keyboard and toss the box. I included a photo of where the dongle is placed in the box. It says it works up to 10 meters (33 feet) away from the dongle via Bluetooth, but I have not tested how far away it will work. The price was reasonable.

Noisy keys, iffy trackpad -- not as good as previous Logitech products
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2024
I have home theatre/media PCs in two rooms. For the main TV in the living room, I have a wireless mouse and a Logitech K810 keyboard that live on the coffee table. The K810 has excellent backlighting, responsiveness, battery life, range, and quiet but nicely tactile low-profile keys. It's given me years of great performance. My bedroom has less ambient lighting, so I still prefer a backlit keyboard, but I also need a built-in trackpad, as a wireless mouse doesn't work well on the bedding (and sometimes gets lost in the blankets). I had been using an Arteck HW197, but it developed problems, so I thought I'd replace it with a Logitech since I liked my other one so well. What I really wanted was the K830, but for reasons beyond my comprehension, Logitech has discontinued production on their most popular HTPC keyboard (still so in demand that used ones are selling on eBay for $500). The most-recommended model still in production is the K400 Plus, so even though it lacked the backlight, I gave it a try. Right out of the box I disliked the build, which is chunky, plasticky, makes squeaky noises when flexed, and just feels like something flimsy from a discount store rather than a name brand. The keys are very noisy (and require a lot more effort to press than any of the four other keyboards in my house, though that's partly due to my preference for Chiclet keys). All of that is relatively minor, though, and wouldn't bother me that much if it functioned well. The thing that really broke the deal for me is the trackpad. It's positioned higher than other models relative to the keyboard, with the main touch area up by Backspace/Backslash rather than even with home row. You have to move your hand diagonally to get to it instead of just straight to the right of where you type, which leads to a fair amount of fumbling around for the right spot if you're trying to use it in the dark (again, no backlighting on this model). The trackpad itself is also not terribly responsive or accurate; I find myself having to repeat clicks at least twice as often as I did with the Arteck. Recently I needed to take some screenshots, and every time, it took me about three tries to select the right area of the screen because the trackpad would just lose track of my fingers or skip to some other corner of the screen for no apparent reason. The K400 Plus also defaults to inverted scrolling, which is not a build issue, but something I personally dislike. (There are utilities that will fix this, but it's a further annoyance. Every other mouse/trackpad/scrollwheel/plug-and-play device I have defaults to the same scrolling orientation; why must this one be different?) I know this is a downpriced model compared to the K810, so my standards should be lower -- and in fairness, it's not ALL bad. I haven't had any connection or typing lag issues. The (projected) battery life is great (I haven't had it long enough to run them down yet). It does have physical mouse buttons, as well as a left-hand mouse button to make clicking and dragging a little easier. There are also convenient volume buttons just above the trackpad, which is good for HTPC use. But overall, I'm just not happy with it. It's functional, but not fun to use. I'll be replacing this model just as soon as some other company comes out with a reliable backlit keyboard with trackpad.
