One Muthaf'in Happy Camper!

Bought the A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro TR for $200 when it was on sale on Dec 19th, 2015 (for Amazon Prime users?) and got it the next day for free prime shipping. Off the bat, I just want to say that these are AMAZING headsets! For $200, these were a steal! I let my friends try the headset and even they were amazed at how awesome these cans were! I've always wanted to try out the Astro brand, but they were just out of my budget range, so I never really got to try them out. However, I saved enough and clicked on that "Add to Cart" button and bought it right away! Before I bought these, I was looking around for some good gaming headsets and I almost bought the HyperX Cloud ones, but I opted on this one instead because I JUST built my PC a month ago and I swore I was gonna go "ball-out" on my build. Never has this purchase ever disappointed me! I talk on Teamspeak, Skype, Discord, Ventrilo, in-game, etc. and my friends/teammates always tell me my mic is "Crystal clear!" every time I ask them whenever I'm on, so I don't know what the hell these people are talking about when they say this microphone "sucks!" I even recorded my voice on an online recording software, played it back, and was blown-back by how clear the sound was even though the room around me was crap. I know people don't want to go through the hassle, but you really just need to mess around Astro Command Center (namely Noise Gate) to fit your needs. Nighttime? Use night settings. Too f'in loud? Go Tournament. Even my settings are defaulted to "Home" and my teammates don't hear the glaring sound coming from the TV 10 ft. behind me. As for sound quality? It really offers a wide variety of options, as long as you know what the hell you're doing when you're messing with the advanced settings on ACC. The Dolby Surround Sound button thingy (sorry, I'm not too well-versed on the MixAmp) on the MixAmp actually improves the sound quality and gameplay (especially in CS:GO and Rainbow 6: Siege) because "dem footsteps be loud, doe." I'm no sound enthusiast, but that button does not make the sound "hollow" OR "muffled." Actually, after pressing the Surround Sound button, the sound quality was a lot less "hollow" / "muffled." Sadly, I'm still looking around to see if anyone's got the perfect Equalizer Presets for certain games and my Google searches have not been successful, so far. After looking back at the ratings a few weeks after I bought these cans, I really wanted to leave a review on here that would hopefully improve the ratings on these beasts because it deserves all 5 stars, in my honest opinion. People may have just gotten unlucky (i.e. defective products), which pretty much skewed their opinion on these headsets. My verdict? Buy them if you want to or if you can afford it because these headsets will rock your gaming world! 5/5 would buy again if something happened to my babies! (My headset, that is.)

Terrible for streaming, not worth the asking price.

Second set after an RMA. First set had faulty ear cups (would squeak/creak so loudly the mic would pick it up.) They're comfortable and sturdy, but not very adjustable so they're a little tight if your head is on the larger side. Not much comes in the box. You get the headset, the MixAmp, and the appropriate cables. No software for PC is included, and must be downloaded separately. For my purposes, the headset is primarily used for streaming and is going to be worn for long periods. The first few nights of use it's worked out well, and has remained comfortable after hours of use. No soreness, no overheating. There are some issues with the mic. It has some popping and hissing, no matter how much fiddling is done with settings on the user side. The Astro Command Center (PC Software) isn't very good. The software is sparse, most of the settings are undocumented or you simply have to refer to a website to know what you're actually changing. It's a very poorly put together piece of software. All that being said, these are replacing a pair of Logitech Artemis Spectrum 933's. These are much, much better in terms of physical design, and performance. It's a step up. Edit: Rating reduced a week after purchase. After further spending a week streaming with these headphones, and further attempting to clear up the static/crackling sound upon speaking; the issue remains and isn't software side. Both sets had this issue. For 250 dollars, it's unacceptable.
