A LED-lit 1440p IPS 25" monitor that's solid and less expensive than most

Forewarning that I don't have that much experience or expertise with monitors besides the crammed research I did over the last week. But I had an Asus MX279H for a few days, which I hear is an amazing monitor with great picture quality from a reliable company, so at least I have a relative point of comparison. - Looks amazing; it's almost if not just as good as the Asus after you calibrate the brightness and such. - As far as I can see, the screen lighting is consistent throughout and not brighter in any particular spot than another. Nice from all angles. - Arrived with no dead pixels or any problems. - Good monitor stand that is sturdy enough to not move the screen when moving the tabletop, yet flexible enough to easily move the screen when purposely maneuvered. - Matte LCD screen. - Very slim with a thin bezel (outer edge part) for those who like that look. - Light and compact if you want to travel with it for whatever reason. If this monitor has all the features you are looking for, then know that it's an amazing choice you should seriously consider with no downsides as far as I can see. I am thoroughly satisfied with it and I love it. But to be safe, make sure your vendor has good return/replacement policies if it turns up with any problems because I can only talk about the single one I got and not about QA consistency. ---------- Now I just want to go into detail as to why I chose the features this monitor has in the first place. I wanted 1440p and IPS because I use my computer all the time to play games, so I want something that looks nice; both are probably the best improvements you can get to visual quality. I had a hard time deciding between 1080p and 1440p, but trying 1440p was like putting on a needed pair of glasses if your game supports that resolution, so I don't regret choosing it. LED-lit (AKA LED, LED-lit LCD) makes colors pop out really well and makes blacks easier to tell apart, so that's a bonus. Trying both 25" and 27", I decided to go with 25" because it still looks large while I'm still able to keep everything in sight by just looking straight. 27" for me felt for the sake of having your screen occupy your peripheral vision. I decided to be okay with 60Hz for two reasons: one is that I'm not a competitive gamer, and two is that I was limited by my computer. If you don't game competitively, you just want 60Hz for the looks, and it gives smoothness to motion which isn't as important as IPS or 1440p from what I've heard. I was limited in my computer in that if I was going to choose 1440p, which takes a lot out of a GPU, I'm not going to get over 60 frames on newer games like The Witcher 3 at higher settings, which would make over 60Hz useless in that scenario; take the power of your GPU into consideration and get an appropriately matching monitor. Basically, what you want to prioritize is resolution >= game graphic settings > frames for looks. So taking all that into account along with price, this monitor fulfilled what I wanted.

Doesn't work on the leading 2 flagship laptop companies. Stay clear.

Acer's response to the question of if it works on Mac is that it should be fine but that it isn't supported: look no further than their reply to one's similar question above. Well, let me clue you all in: there is nothing "fine" about it, and it definitely isn't supported. Acer is flat wrong and "cleverly" disguising it to protect themselves from it while trying to sell a bunch of monitors to unsuspecting customers. I'm using 12 in 2016 macbook and have nothing but issues with flickering monitor and erratic behavior of peripherals because of what obviously appears to be a major power management issue and effects the main benefit of this monitor: being an all in one solution for your USB-C mobile platform. Google "H277HU flicker" or "H277HU USB-C Macbook Problems". It is that simple. Customer support did not provide me useful feedback or directions on updating firmware besides "mail it in for 2 weeks and we'll take a look" (I've had it for just over 4 weeks) and guilt trip you on giving you shipping--with which they will not test it on mac hardware/software AND users have reported it being returned without the cable and without any changed firmware. The best resource I could find was a mac forum where users directly uploaded firmware and posted advice on paying for a new cable out-of-pocket, all relating to it not working with the latest 2017 macbooks. This thread has had active posters dating back from early-mid 2016 all the way to today, all related to multiple generations of macbooks all on the same monitor. The fact that one of the best resources for this problem can be found on a random forum instead of through the companies own customer support regarding the leading laptop manufacturer and company to implement the USB-C mobile platform that created the market this monitor serves in the first place is LAUGHABLE. I'm absolutely disgusted by Acer's customer support and how they market to apple users and this market segment with the added disclaimer as if it makes everything alright when it is abundantly clear that it has been a massive problem. I bought it on 7/31/2017 after reading several articles about it being the optimal USB-C setup for macbook, and am now just over the 30 day return policy and so am SOL on the return now. And to make matters worse, it's reported to not work on Dell XPS 13, either. I will not buy from Acer again and I implore, neigh, BEG everyone to heed this warning and steer clear of this product and this company regardless of what platform you intend to use this product on. I spent an hour writing this review at 4AM it has me that irked.
