Still working after 6 years

I purchased this SB6183 black on Amazon in 2019 six years ago and it's been flawless. Never a disconnect or reboot needed. My ISP is Spectrum with 400 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload plan. The modem delivers that. Only reason I would replace it would be to get more speed as gigabit service becomes more common.

Works great but already a registered MAC address

I bought the Arris Surfboard SB6183 (new, in shrink wrap and everything) in order to stop paying the monthly modem rental fee to my service provider. The unit worked great and was easy to install, but unfortunately when I went to return the old equipment to CableVision, I found out that the MAC address of my new SB6183 had already been registered with them, thus I was still using 'their equipment'. They advised buying the same unit from Best Buy in order to avoid this problem. Apparently Amazon and other 3rd party sellers get new units from the service providers themselves and re-sell them. Many of the other reviewers that are reporting 5 stars probably just got lucky in the sense that the one they got was registered with a different cable provider than the one they have. If that's the case, great for them. Just a word of caution that there's no guarantee that it will work for you.
