The great is awesome

The great is awesome. It allows you to give a quick overview of what a raspberry pi is about and provides some electronics to do a basic setups. Once you have a good handle on it, the book is somewhat obsolete, however, if you want others to know about it, it is useful. The Raspberry Pi is just plain awesome. I also bought a larger SD card so I could dual boot with MS Win IoT as well as Raspbian. Each has its benefits and uses. MS Win IoT allows users to connect and develop with Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition, and Raspbian allows you to develop with Python and Java (if SE is installed). So far I have easily installed an app with MS Win IoT.I do recommend the ethernet connection. I spun up the wifi and it did find my WiFi, but i couldn't connect. It just worked out of the box for ethernet. If you don't have enough ethernet ports, you can get a cheap 4 port and some cheap cables. Also, I didn't have a USB keyboard or mouse, so I bought a USB keyboard and mouse (the Amazon Essentials). It works great with it. (BTW, you need to have both). Also, if you don't have an HDMI tv (i had an old computer monitor that uses the old VGA) I bought an HDMI to VGA (male to female) connector. That allowed me to use an old monitor and I was ready to go.

and that is working brilliantly. Like I said

I am new to this world, but I certainly know how to follow directions/instructions. I cannot get any of the GPIO projects to work, and I am certain something is wrong, I just don't know what. Maybe the directions? Page 49 first line of code: import RPi.GPIO but on page 50 first line of code: import RPi.GPIO as GPIO. Which one is it? I tried both, neither worked.I was able to use the Raspberry Pi to run RetroPie, and that is working brilliantly. Like I said, I am no expert, but if can get RetroPie up and running...I would give this review less stars, after all I did get this specific bundle to work on those projects with my son, but given the main component, unless something is wrong with the GPIO?, is working to run Raspbian and RetroPie, I gave it two stars.*I know it is not listed on the items list, but was still surprised it did not come with a card adapter. I did not lower star rating due to this, I just wanted people to know.UPDATE: within an hour, probably within 30 minutes, customer service contacted me. IMPRESSED! I will redo the GPIO setup and send pictures in; they are going to help me troubleshoot. I will raise my rating to three stars from their effort to ensure customers are completely satisfied.
