Solid extender for the long haul
By Alex P. on Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2018
We now have two of these. One is in the detached garage by the alley for the IP cameras out there. The other is in my wife's home office. She needs an ethernet cable for her work computer. We had the WUMC710 but those have since gone out of service and no more firmware updates. Well, the WUMC710 started to fail (the one in my office died last year) so I got another one of these for her office. Setup was painless for both extenders and so far they have held up with the traffic demands. The refurb only comes with 90/90 warranty so something to keep in mind. But I have two more WUMC710s to replace and quite frankly I'm ready to make the move and this is the most cost effective approach for me. I do like the fastlane technology. Especially for the IP cameras as they can't use the 5G network anyhow. You can also set static IP addresses so I keep all my extenders in the same IP block so I know which is which. The one oddity is the login. Requires setting up an account so I have to use the gmail + symbol to set up different emails as otherwise it won't let me configure the extender (or get past the registration for that matter). I don't know why I don't get the option to login using my existing account. Odd but hopefully they fix that someday. [edited to add] replaced the last two WUMC710 in our house. Been running rock solid. What is nice we now have more WiFi access points for some of our perimeter IP cameras. Very pleased with the long haul capability these extenders provide. All of them are on fastlane 5G to the router.

DO NOT purchase this refurbished from Electronics Club
By Isaac Harris on Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2022
I bought this to extend the range of my brand new Netgear Router across my house and yard. Thought buying equipment made by same manufacturer(even refurbished) would make setup easy especially for someone with extensive networking experience. I followed the directions included in the package, tried physically connecting it to my router with a CAT6 cable but could not get it to connect and be recognized by the router. So I called the technical support number thinking I would be talking with support at Netgear. Instead it contacted a company called Geek Infotech who remotely connected to my PC with my permission (first mistake on my part) who said the router couldn't see the extender because my internet connection was hijacked by outside servers using it for nefarious purposes and showed me a google article about the service they said was bad. I work remotely so I need all my bandwidth to conduct business during my work hours. So I agreed to let them reset the router and connect the extender. They installed firewall software(which I already had installed on all my computers) and charged me $327 while trying to upsell me for a lifetime plan. Other than my extender now working with my router and extending the reach of my wifi there was no noticeable difference in my internet performance that was promised when they vanquished the hijacking program. I suspect they installed the hijacker when I gave permission to remote control my computer. I have learned the lesson about checking the seller, because the way the item is listed makes it look like it is associated with Netgear. Should have called the tech support number that came with my original router instead of the number included in the instructions which looked sloppily printed versus the 4 color glossy instructions that came with my original router. If you want this, the price was right for a "factory" refurbished extender, but beware it will have issues and calling the number they provide will scam you out of money.
