I love this drive. It's been working great for me as a backup drive for about a year now. No complaints.

Failed in six months

I have used WD HDDs for a long time. It seems the newer ones I buy are failing faster than ever. I have one from 2010 (500GB) that still runs. I have a one (1TB) that failed after about 4-5 years, and one (3TB) that failed after about 3 years. This particular drive, a 3TB, failed after only six months of use. Ordered on on 2/1/20, put into use shortly thereafter, and died on 8/17/20. I don't execpt HDDs to last forever and I know they will inevitably fail. But six months is just not acceptable for a device that has remained stationary on my desktop (never transported or subject to any physical jostling around). Looks like its past time to switch to another brand and start using SSDs in hopes of finding better quality/quality control.
