Don't be on the fence because of bad reviews, get this Chromebook!
By George White on Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2017
I am so impressed with this chromebook and I highly recommend it. Let me tell you a little about myself first. Technology is a hobby to me. I have dabbled with technology for years. I also do a ton of research before I buy anything. I have wanted a chromebook ever since they came out (I am a Google fanboy at heart). They just were not quite up to par with what I wanted so I waited awhile. My most recent computer was a Macbook Pro and before that was a Lenovo Yoga Pro. I saw this computer featured at the Google I/O conference (not in person, just online). I was very intrigued with it. As the computer approached release date, I read many many reviews, including a lot of the negative ones that you probably read. My biggest drawback, from the reviews, was the comments about the sub-par keyboard. It almost made me look for a different option, however I went with my gut and purchased it anyways. And let me tell you....I am not looking back! I have only had it for a few days but am very impressed with this Chromebook. The screen on this computer is absolutely beautiful. That alone should draw you to this machine. I am not going to discuss much about the operating system because you should know what you are getting into already if you are looking at this review. I will say though, that Chrome OS can do a lot more than people give it credit to. I am using this as my primary work and personal computer and do not foresee any issues. I also got it connected to our office copier/printer today, which was the only concern I had going into it. Let me take a moment to talk about the keyboard. First of all, the keys feel great! They feel quality, unlike what some reviewers online had concluded. The lack of backlighting is not an issue because the screen is so bright. I can see it become a problem if you are trying to type at night and not keep someone up with a bright screen, but otherwise it should never be an issue. Some people complained about smaller keys, however the only one I have an issue with is the backspace. Don't worry about the Shift key or Tab key or any other ones...the backspace however does take some getting used to. You can also feel that your hands are closer together when you type, that takes some adjustment, but it absolutely does not cause any typing issues, at least in my experience. I can type just fine on this machine. Also I saw some poor reviews on the trackpad...I disagree. The trackpad feels premium in my opinion.I don't typically write reviews but I wanted to specifically write one for this Chromebook to help those who were in the same boat as me. If you were excited about this Chromebook, but read some bad reviews, do not listen to them. Seriously, don't. You will love the Samsung Chromebook Pro! If you never really heard of this Chromebook and are looking at it for the first time, get it! You will love it as well! I know I have only had it for a few days but, so far, I am so happy with it. I hope to write an updated review at some point in the future. Thank you for reading!**** UPDATE #1 ****I have been using this Chromebook for over a week now and am still thoroughly pleased. I will admit that it was difficult connecting with my printer at work. However, the upcoming Chrome OS 59 update makes connecting to printers wildly easier. So, I switched my chromebook over to the BETA channel to receive this Chrome 59 update and I love it. One of the primary issues I have heard from people over the years was printer connection issues, but this update really makes it simple. I recommend switching to the BETA until the stable version is released. All in all, this computer has been great. I have yet to experience any issues with lagging. I have not used this to run many games yet but have used it to watch netflix and youtube on occasion and have no issues. I have had no issues adjusting to the smaller keyboard, HOWEVER, I do think that some people will. After spending over a week with this keyboard I can see where people would become a little frustrated. I type a lot during the workday and have been just fine, but it definitely takes an adjustment. I am still highly recommending it.

Great Device, but It does not support what I want to do.... I travel for business ...
By Garnie In Texas on Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2017
I bought the Chromebook Pro, and I love the device. Converting from Keyboard to tablet mode is a breeze, plus having a S-Pen that works great is a nice bonus. Plus being part of the beta Android Play Store configuration, it is pretty nice... BUTBUT sadly I have to return it... just does not work for me... I did a video of it on my youtube channel (look for "garniebolling"), but in short... as a traveling professional, I will be disconnected a fair bit. Think replying and composing emails on a flight for an example. I know that Chrome OS can work offline, but there is one huge issue, that is overlooked by many... spell checking... ChromeOS only supports active spell checking when connected... so with the 3:2 aspect ratio of the keyboard :) I tried to make this work, but after 10 emails, I had to save them in draft until I reached a wifi connection to reopen all the emails from draft, and spell check them, and THEN send them off... now expand that into word processing, editing, and so on.The other sad thing is Microsoft. Microsoft is not supporting their Office suite on the ChomeOS (they do support the Android Platform)... only through the office365 website via Chrome... and that requires being connected... Google Suite does not work well with the current 365 tools / conversions... so another bad ding on ChromeOS... BUT, if you do not require MS Office, then the provided Google Suite of tools (word processing, presentations and spreadsheets) are just fine. I use the Google Suite for my personal use.On the flip side, excuse the pun... the tablet that thinks it is a laptop is a great concept, and my kids have the chromebooks for college... perfect for them...I love the device, really.. perfect device for those in school, or always connected to the wifi crowd. The Samsung Chromebook Pro is awesome, love the screen, nice build, includes a S-Pen, wish the keyboard was better, but overall a great device... just not for a traveling professional... will have to stick with the iPad if I want to stay light on the road...
