Purchased refurbished HP Envy Photo 7855 - What a bargain!!!
By Hover Lover on Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2020
>Part of this review has nothing to do with actual product but may be considered noteworthy information. >Purchased refurbished unit from Image Warehouse - printer looks brand new (extremely pleased with purchase, saved $150). >Out of the box: Printer in pristine condition (Like New - as described in listing), two new original HP cartridges (please note - it is less expensive to buy a refurbished printer with two new HP cartridges than it is to buy two HP cartridges out right [at least for 64XL type print cartridges]), power cord and concise instructions from Image Warehouse in event adverse conditions are encountered. It is highly recommended to download set up & owner information from HP (see link below) before beginning setup (at least on refurb products). >Very well packaged - shipping was incredibly fast (received one day before earliest promised delivery date - great job Image Warehouse!!). >HP7855: Incredibly easy to set up. As soon as unit was plugged in printer automatically entered basic set up and diagnostic mode. >Inserted ink cartridges before connecting power cord. Not sure if this was correct set up sequence as printer rail needed to be manually moved to the right about 1/8" inch to align cartridge insert slot with cartridge well. (Restated from above: Go to HP.com/support to make sure set up is completed per manufacturer's instructions. If refurbished unit is purchased all necessary owner information should also be downloaded as it may not be included with your product). >Network setup was incredibly easy (you will need network password) - even without having downloaded manufacturer's instructions. >Touch screen is a bit small but easy to understand symbols and icons. >Added paper. Printer automatically entered alignment mode. Perfect alignment. >Printed black & white document. Very clear characters. >Printed color photo. First photo was not the greatest but that is most likely contributed to inferior generic software used and being unable to size photo to smaller ratio (same number of pixels in smaller space). >CONCLUSION: As this printer has just been set up for only a couple hours, there will be much more exploring of its many features and settings. Even though not having used HP technical support for this printer, previous experience with online HP tech support is fantastic. >PROs: Very easy setup, easy to understand touch screen symbols & icons, discreetly positioned & hidden USB 2.0 and SD memory card ports at front/lower left corner of printer (hidden behind small stylish "flip" door), landline in/out (for fax); ethernet; USB Type-B ports easily accessible on back, simple cartridge replacement, paper sizes and service feature are easily accessible from front side, processes input information for wireless printing relatively quickly, prints black & white moderately fast, HP quality product & tech support. (No experience with copy/scan feature at time of this review.) Pleased with refurbished product purchase and highly recommend (especially from Image Warehouse). >CONs: Very small touch screen, expensive print cartridges.

DO NOT BUY worst printer I've had even canon was better and that's sad

UPDATE OCT 2020 I WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS PRINTER. DO NOT BUY IT FOR $10. THE AGGRAVATION IS NOT WORTH IT. ALL THESE ERRORS COUNT AS A PAGE RPINTED TO THE INSTANT INK REFIL PROGRAM BY THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU HAVE 100 PAGES A MONTH YOU WILL WASTE HALF OF THEM TRYING TO PRINT. Got it in April, now 6 months of constant issues with a KNOWN ISSUE AT HP THAT THEY PRETEND THEIR SYSYTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE TO HELP SUPPORT. It is saying the paper size DETECTED BY THE PRINTER is smaller than PAPER SIZE SELECTED AS PRINT JOB. For Windows users, their online system of support has you do about 7 useless things, all time consuming and ridiculous given the error. Reinstall the printer, remove and reload drivers and update everything under the sun - all major time wasters because at the last step - FINALLY they suggest what they should have said first: CHECK THE PAPER TRAY. If you go look at your online queue most likely it says OUT OF PAPER but clearly there is HP BRANS LETTER SIZE PAPER INTHE TRAY AND THE DOCUMENT PROPERTIES SAY LETTER SIZE PAPER. This happens EVERYTIME I PRINT A PDF FILE. I adjust the print job to 95% not 100% SOMETIMES THAT WORKS. Today I changed the paper size from LETTER to 8x10 and got the shipping labels printed, a tiny version up in the corner of the paper. IT ALSO REFUSES TO PRINT PICTURES ONTO LETTER SIZE PAPER AS IT SHOULD. IT PUTS PIECES OF THE 1 PAGE PRINT JOB ON 3 DIFFERENT PAGES. SO MUCH FOR THE BRILLIANT TECHS AND THEIR AUTOMATIC DETECT OF CORRECT PAPER SIZE. TRY PUTTING PHOTO PAPER IN THE TOP TRAY EVEN IF YOU NEVER USE IT. MAYBE THAT WILL SATISFY THE BEAST OF PROFIT. ORIGINAL POST: The main paper tray is not removable. When I print, 8 times out of 10 I get error messages which end up cancelling print jobs before I can even see what is the matter. These errors all claim the paper size is wrong, and blame it on the document as to its print settings. 99% of time it is BECAUSE THIS STUPID PAPER TRAY SEEMS TO LOSE ITS ABILITY TO DETECT APAPER AND/OR GRASP A SHEET OF IT. NO ATTER HOW FULL THE TRAY. I am in dry desert there is no humility to jam up the paper. There is no guide at the bottom edge, all we can do is JAM the paper up to the top and HOPE THAT WORKS. The paper size is fit to printer how can that be wrong? Here I am 6 times trying to print a 30 page document. Each time it takes 5 minutes to cancel. There is no support for this that I can find. All we get is a massive knowledge base that returns far too many answers. Who has time to read for 3 hours hoping to find the right answer? Technology should help us not give us the inclination to smash tings to pieces, especially as we try to work without hassle. Who enjoys a hassle? We have patience but this is not the occasional user mishap. This is a stupid printer that was made by people who obviously never function in the real world but stay in a lab doing what is cheapest for the company profit mavens. It is worst than auto correct, spell check and cell tower outages combined! The instant ink thing is a joke as far as I am concerned. If the printer screws up the print job I still get charged for those pages! The new ink install wants to align each time, and every time it prints half a page then stops and has to of course think it didn't get the job done and so continues to pester me to align again. Each time is a page printed no matter what the result. This quiet mode feature is useless. When it is not on, the printer shakes the large bookcase it sits on to the point that decorative items rattle off the edge and break. Bye Bye pretty little horse figurine. Smashed to the floor. Why you say is it not on? The printers SAYS SO - quiet mode not available! Really?
