A really good printer for a good price.

It's kind of mind boggling how expensive printers are. It's more reasonable if you're a business but just for personal use that you're going to use every now and then, prices can get really high and the reviews on most printers are pretty low. It's hard to find a printer for a fair price with 5-stars but now I see why, a lot of people just don't know what they're doing, to be just blunt about that. This printer is exceptional. I even got mine refurbished with free 2-day shipping from Amazon Prime for just $45. I had it 100% set-up within the first 5-minutes. Connecting it wirelessly was a breeze. I even had it set up on my iPhone within a minute. It is painfully easy. Some reviews say that the printer "won't" work without putting in your payment information, I can absolutely say that they are either flat out lying or more likely, they just don't know what they're talking about and completely overlooked the option of not putting in your information and continuing with setting up your printer. The screen is touchscreen and works flawlessly, you can use envelopes and photo paper to print, the directions are clear and don't skip a beat, installing the ink (that it does come with, both black and color) was extremely simple. I honestly have no complaints. The fact that I can print wirelessly even when I'm not home from my phone is extremely amazing. If you're looking for a printer at a reasonable price (including if you're buying it new) that does what you need it to do and don't need to print a ton of paper on a regular basis, this is it.

Do NOT make the mistake of buying this piece of crap
By judith mccowan on Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2020
I purchased this “smart” printer hoping to have a good “first time” HP user experience. I have had the printer since December 2. While I feel the print quality is good (when it is not making fans) and love that I can print directly from my phone... what everybody who purchases a printer needs MOST is for the printer to work. To print as instructed, when instructed. That is where this device just FAILS. Examples: The thing guzzles ink like crazy. I don’t print much - but have had the unit 4 months and have had to change out the ink cartridges 6 times. There is a very small tray for photo paper just above the main paper tray. I don’t print pictures at home - but the machine keeps getting stuck and telling me it is out of paper continually - and refusing to print. I don’t want my resume on 4x6 photos! That empty paper tray problem will drive you to your wit’s end - and drain hours of your time. Today I was doing some legal research that took hours. All through the day I would print certain important material as I went. No problems popped up, when I opened the printer everything seemed fine. One document was printing and there was a list of about 10 docs to print. I kept working to give it plenty of time to print. And when I went to the printer, NOTHING! The docs were still sitting in the queue - 1 was noted as “printing” - only the machine was not working. Within a few minutes, all of my print jobs disappeared into thin air - two days of research gone. Called customer service - spoke to a robot - now that was a total comedy. What a useless system! The paper tray does not come all the way out unless you are really tough at pulling on it. This makes it difficult to load regular paper. When you try to economize by printing on both sides, the two sides don’t both print using the same end as top “top” - so, if you want to sit in meetings and have to flip upside down and back and forth, you will LOVE THIS. But do NOT think you will be able to put them in a binder or portfolio.🤯 The thing drinks ink like a tank drinks gas - not a good piece of equipment. Going back to Brother!!! Never waste your time on an HP. I just am so shocked that with the advances in technology, that this thing functions so poorly - I cannot get rid of this piece of crap. I just bought the new Brother ink tank printer MFC- J6545. It has all the bells - but the BEST thing is the ink cartridges hold 1 YEAR of ink!!! It is larger, but has a document feeder for propulsion/scan and can both print AND copy on BOTH SIDES. You can’t go wrong with Brother. I should have known better than to get another brand - expensive lesson
