I miss thumb buttons :(
By Super Dave on Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2023
After quite a few years since having the Logi T-RA18 cordless trackball, I wanted once again to go back to just lazy thumbing around on the pc. I'd been staying with the Logi brand since that old trackball, but in traditional corded or cordless mice. Figured it'd been about 10yrs since then, maybe they made improvements on the trackball scene? Yep, they did. Enter this guy. First off, its nice. Very ergonomic. Then add in that tilt feature and it gets better. If you don't like the tilt, just firmly rotate it to the left and it'll plop down flat. By the way, that tilt plate is removable if you want just a flat trackball. I left it on, because I can simply add a bit of pressure and it just flops over flat. Battery life is really good. My old one took batteries, this one has power built in. Probably lithium, can't say for sure. What I can say, is that it lasts quite a long time. Plus, if it DOES start to die, you can simply just plug it in and keep on thumbing around. It charges while you use it. The ball portion is just like it used to be. Nice smooth ball to thumb with. Mine however has a ever so slight divot in it. I can feel it, but can't find it. I also can't be bothered to really look for it as well lol. And just like previous trackballs, there's a hole under it so you can pop it out to clean under the ball. The difference between then and now, is that this ball is in there quite snugly. Took a fair amount of force to pop it out so I could inspect the innards. Keep this in mind and don't use anything that might mar the surface. A new feature I haven't seen yet, is by the ball, there's a button. This button by default evidently will reduce the mouse speed super slow. Great if you want to move the mouse .5mm at a swipe of the thumb I suppose. Me personally, i've no use for it. And, its not in a convenient place to use. You have to stop, and find it in order to push the button. But it might be useful to someone out there. After all, its there right? Aside from that, it's got the typical mouse buttons and wheel along with mouse speed buttons next to the left mouse button. Gaming? Well, that's going to be user preference. And there's a learning curve to it if you've been using traditional mice for awhile, like me. So, I've got both this mouse and the G604 sitting next to it so I can have all my bases covered. By the way, this mouse does not use the g hub software that is found on alot of mice. It uses logi bolt and logi options. So far there's been no conflict between those and ghub. In the end, its a nice addition to my arsenal of gadgetry. I'd say give it a whirl. Keep in mind, there's a learning curve to it! Buy with confidence!

It is a Bluetooth Mouse after all! But with some cons.
By Vazhaspa Spitman on Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2018
Update: Sept 2021 As said before, it is too difficult to push down the left button and hold it so whether you are selecting a text or a graphic ... I wonder if it is because of dirt penetrating under the button. That is my guess because even when you are listening to/recodring music the cursor does not respond to your click ... Something, somehow is wrong with this mouse as I mentioned before ... Update: Sept. 2019 If you are working too much with written documents (selecting/copying/ pasting/ … texts) this mouse would not be for you-- even when you press the sensitive button or customize the cursor speed, that is not an easy task to select a part of text at ease. Although I use this mouse every now and then, I noticed that a small cheap mouse like Microsoft Wedge mouse is much more practical and handy (even ergonomically, if used with wrist-pad) but then the MS Wedge is so delicate that would easily break down after a while. There is something about the trackball: every now and then, when the mouse cursor starts to move weirdly with too much hardship it shows that you have to clean the trackball contacts: just use a pencil to push it out then you'll be surprised by the amount dirt attracted to the contact area! The trackball is not the best for handling any graphic works either. Again Microsoft Edge mouse was more effective and pragmatic in this regard. But then, one cannot charge the MS wedge and has to replace the battery every few weeks, while with logitech you can easily recharge it (of course, after a while I had to refer to my own review of this mouse to rediscover one has to use its cable for recharging). There is no printed manual but only a label stuck at the base of the mouse that shows graphically how to connect it via Bluetooth. After that, the Mouse Setup can be downloaded/updated and adjusted. _______________ Original review: I ordered this mouse for my lack of space and also some pain in my wrist. But the buyer should be warned that despite Logitech high quality in packaging and products, the mouse does not come up with a proper setup manual (especially for the beginners): I was indeed going to return the mouse, thinking that it did not support Bluetooth-- {and with modern laptops and their lack of many USB ports, plus the miserable condition of the external USB hubs/ dongles in the market, it would be a real disadvantage to occupy a port with the mouse USB receiver}. However on the second thought, following the description of the mouse in its image on Amazon {about the mouse dual connectivity}, I used the mouse connectivity button on #2 along with Windows 10 setting-> Devices-> Add Bluetooth.... and bingo! the mouse was easily recognized by the laptop's Bluetooth. Overall, the mouse feels quite comfortable and even "luxurious"... You can relax and put the mouse on your knee: the computer responds to the mouse from a long range. BUT, strangely there are cons as well: 1- At first try, the left click seems strangely less sensitive than that of small cheap mice and less responsive than the touchpad that quickly reacts to your mild finger tap. Sometimes you have to click the left button few times even in the Precision Mode. SOLUTION: You will then learn not to touch the trackball when clicking (because it makes tiny movements in the position of the mouse not to accept double click) 2-The first time you want to customize your mouse, you should plug in the receiver!! So, you should take care not to lose the small USB receiver! (But why the customization software could not use Bluetooth??) 3-If you do not customize the mouse to make the trackball faster, then in the case of large screens (even 15.6" & 17") you'll have to roll the trackball several times to go from one end of the screen to the other! But then if you make it too fast, then you might have to use the side button for the precision mode which will act as a brake. 4-As for the charging of the mouse, I wondered why it does not use the USB-c. Conclusion: So far, so good--even though I have to get used to the trackball--still unfamiliar and difficult for me, especially when aiming for a little icon or a specific letter (when typing)--but nothing in the world is of course perfect!
