Good service and a product that meets my needs

In this review I will explain the unboxing, setup and performance of the HP ProBook 640 G1. I bought this product because it would serve as and upgrade to my Acer Aspire P6100 Pentium with Windows 7. The laptop was acting very slow. It would take a bit more than 4 minutes before usability. Furthermore since Windows 7 would no longer be upgraded by Microsoft after January 2020, Windows 10 was the only PC alternative. My main interest was to use the ProBook as a backup to my Windows 10 desktop. I am no longer in the workforce and have not traveled much so this arrangement seemed to be the most practical. UNBOXING: I bought the ProBook from ITSupplyGuy (Maryland). I ordered it as a member of Amazon Prime and it arrived on time. The computer was in a box packed within a larger box and was securely packaged in reinforced bubble-wrap. Instructions were supplied for setup and activation of Windows 10 and were easy to understand. An AC power adapter was enclosed as well. I inspected the exterior of the laptop and found a few scuffs on the underside but nothing that was unacceptable. SETUP: I plugged the AC adapter into the ProBook and wall socket. The computer started promptly and I began to inspect what was installed. The setup with the home network worked and I was soon connected to the Internet. Since I was familiar with HP support I downloaded HP Support Assistant to obtain info on the upgrades to the ProBook. I downloaded those upgrades most crucial to the computer an installed them. Important Windows upgrades were also installed at this time. I had no issues that resulted from these upgrades. I also installed Firefox Browser and several programs using Ninite a website that provides free software. No issues with those apps during installation. I also migrated by Internet security software (Webroot) from the older laptop with no issues. PERFORMANCE: Since I bought the ProBook in late May I have used it to connect to a flatbed scanner that I had been using with the older laptop. I had no major issues installing the scanner drivers and the scanner worked as before. Beyond that the computer continues function well and has met my expectations. More tests will occur when I take it on trips of course. CAVEAT: The one problem I did have was with the HP battery. The battery failed the HP Support Assistant test. and after retrying to charge it several times I contacted ITSupplyGuy for replacement. They responded quickly and sent a replacement that arrived two days later. However it was for the wrong HP laptop. I contacted them again and they sent another replacement that arrived within two days. But this battery too, was for the wrong model. After contacting them again they finally sent the right battery (it arrived several days later). ONE MORE PIECE OF ADVICE: For those of you who want to get a head start on understanding the guts of your new computer go to the HP website and download the user guide.
