Great Display for non-scaled productivity at 2k.
By Samuel on Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2025
This is a review of the 1440p (2k) Version There are basically 4 options for a 32-inch screen (non-ultrawide): 1. 1080p - too pixelated, and buttons are too big. 2. 1440p - good non-scaling/non-retina density ~93 ppi. 3. 4k - requires fractional scaling, costs more. 4. 6k - Apple's Pro Display, only problem: $5000+. I deliberately went with 1440p here to avoid scaling settings and I am enjoying using this monitor so far. My use cases are is studying (Mac) and work (Win 10). - Out-of-the-box settings need a little work: I use standard mode with 100% brightness and 100% sharpness. - Not the brightest, but adequate for indoors. - Settings navigation is a bit tough, but at least there are physical buttons. - Not a gaming monitor (75Hz only, no FreeSync). + 3-year warranty. + Good color (SDR) and uniformity. + Competitive price at 32 inches. + Amazing build quality with metal along all edges and on the stand. Bottom Line: Good productivity monitor if you want to avoid scaling issues in macOS and Windows. The 1440p resolution at 32 inches is about the same density as a 24" 1080p screen, meaning at 100% scaling, text is large enough in virtually every case. I like that I rarely need to use the zoom feature on apps.

I really wanted to love it... but I didn't...
By Da Ewok on Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2024
I had some issues with this... and it wasn't "defective" - Maybe just a bad design - It's funny I keep hearing people talk about how IPS panels are supperior to VA, but I'd beg to differ. My thoughts: The Good: A beautiful form factor. Sexy, thin, modern - an awesome addition to a minimalistic look. Very sleek. The colors on the display were quite rich and very pleasing. The price is outstanding. The... not-so-good: First of all, the minimum viewing distance was listed as 18" in the manual. I sit at about 22" away, well beyond the minimum. At that distance the left and right sides of the screen appear to fade in brightness and were visibly darker, so much so, that when I wanted to look at the clock on my Window 10 computer, I had to learn right to be, more or less, in front of it. This strange behavior began to fade the further away that I sat. Somewhere around 26" to 28" away it was not noticeable. So, if you sit back further than average this display will probably be okay for you. I just couldn't stand seeing the darker areas at my preferred viewing distance, especially being beyond the minimum viewing distance. However, one additional point is that the text was not as sharp as I would have wanted either. -Another point is the speakers: Awful audio quality. I don't expect high fidelity out of a monitor, but this was ridiculous. It reminded me of the audio quality that you get from those piezo-electric birthday cards, super high, tinny sounding, no bass at all. Another annoying thing was that the sound seemed to be side-firing. This was bad for me, in particular because the monitor was placed about 16" to the right on an internal wall corner. The effect was that the sound seems louder coming from the left side because it was collecting and bouncing out of the corner back at me, while the right side was dissipating. I returned it and bought the Dell S3221QS 32 Inch Curved 4K UHD - Sure it's $100 more, curved VA Panel, 4k, but I have no dark spots in my field of view from where I sit and the sound is fantastic for a monitor (down firing speaker - so it sounds like it coming from in front of me.) I would recommend this monitor for people who just want a larger screen at a cheap price point and don't care what sounds come out of the "squeeker." Just keep what I said in mind. The funny thing is that most models of ViewSonic monitors seem to have speakers, hence the "sonic" in their name - I thought that was a hallmark of theirs. I had two other ViewSonic monitors in the past and I have to say that I was pleased with the quality of the display and audio both. This just might have been their version of a Ford Edsel...
