Great printer
By Carolyn S. on Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2025
I bought this HP 5255 to replace my HP 4650 printer which stopped working after many years of heavy usage. Since the HP 5255 printer used the same ink (of which I had much.) and was less expensive than a used HP 4650, I bought it. The used HP 5255 looks and operates as if it were brand new. I am very happy with the HP 5255.

Worst HP product I've ever used
By Humble reviewer on Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2018
I didn’t have high expectation for an all-in-one device. However, this model happened to be quite bad pretty much in all areas: 1. B/W Printing quality: worse than my old HP DeskJet (I was a loyal HP customer for years with all my previous printers being HP). 2. Photo printing: the same old issue of not printing well the very bottom portion of the picture in the borderless mode. 3. Page auto-feeder (ADF) does not pull the paper in squarely. It happens all the time - no matter what paper I try. 4. Text copying: content positioning/margins don’t match the original. I didn’t figure out how to position the original to prevent that. 5. Color printing (as well as scanning): loses shades of light colors. 6. Text scanning: no way to mix ADF and on-glass sources in to a single output document. 7. Picture scanning: limited scan parameters and formats. No way to save as TIFF 8. Desktop (Windows 10) software: Scanner app becomes constantly unresponsive and I have to kill it each time through the Task Manager. TWAIN app crashes right away when you try opening it. 9. Mobile app (iOS) loses connection to the printer and you have to redo all steps of selecting and adjusting the picture again in order to give printing another try. I didn't have connectivity problems (WiFi) with the desktop though. Please note, I did update firmware right away so all reported is not due to some outdated firmware version. Also, their fancy automated set-up process failed at the last steps, and I had to do those manually.
