Terrific Monitor!
By Zachary Clayton on Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2021
This monitor is terrific, especially for the price. The 27" curved display is gorgeous. I'm not using it for gaming, but for everyday work it is great. I really like the "blue light" option. It feels much more natural when you are staring at the screen 10 hours a day. I currently have 2 of these mounted and will certainly pull the trigger on more if I ever need another monitor. My 1 complaint - when you attach the "stem" for the monitor stand there isn't a way to remove it once it was clicked in and locked. I avoided that on my second, but the first still has it attached. Overall - I would recommend this to ANYONE looking for a large monitor.

Thinner screen, but with great compromise
By Anthony on Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2020
I am comparing this to an older Samsung 27" curved screen I bought in 2016, S27D590C [old]. This product I am reviewing is on the right in my pictures, and the old one is on the left (except for the picture comparing the curvature). BEWARE - the stand is NOT removable, so test your screen before installing the stand. It has a plastic latch that 'clicks' internally and cannot be detached. First, the LC27F398FWNXZA [new] is cheaper by about 50 bucks compared to when I bought the old one 4 years ago. That said, it lacks a VGA port and the screen quality is worse in comparison. See my photos for the gradient test (worse) and black test (better). The gradient test indicates the color bit depth is worse, and this is noticeable when color banding starts showing up in images. By default, the new one also has a slightly purplish tinge, but this can be adjusted in the settings. Also there are no speakers, but there is a 1/8 audio jack. To me, the screen is too curved (see image, left). My old one was advertised that through studies they found the perfect curvature to match the angle of the eye, and I agree! The image on the old one appears flat to my perspective. The new one is noticeably over-curved, no matter how close or far I sit facing it. Why change it when they had it perfect already? The thinner screen is nice, but what is the point when the stand's footprint takes up so much more space? You can also see this in my image. Not only is the stand not adjustable in height, it is not detachable after installing it (as I mentioned above). The old one takes up less space and is detachable. TLDR; Samsung seems to have gone backwards compared to an older model I have. It has a thinner screen, but because the stand takes up a larger footprint, that renders that benefit pointless. One fewer port, no speakers, worse quality screen, an over-curved angle, and a non-detachable stand - these losses to me are greater than the $50 price difference. I bought this screen used. At retail price, I don't think it's worth it.
