Worked well!

You've got to find the video for the name brand version so you know where each number goes, but dead simple and well made. The little pizza cutter tool came with extra wheels but I only needed to use the one.

Order was missing strip, but resolved and successful

I hesitated to tackle a drive upgrade (to SSD) for quite a while, as Apple has made it way more difficult than it should be, and indeed used to be. But with a “spare” working iMac in case I botched the job, I decided “Now or never”. I stumbled out of the gate, as it wasn’t easy to slice through the adhesive holding the display panel in place. I’d work it a little, then try again the next day. Finally I got it loose. It looked too tricky to free the bottom edge, so I just gently lowered the display after unhooking the two top cables. Then it was time to tackle the drive replacement, which was itself tricky, as there’s no slack in the SATA cable, but I managed it. As the bottom adhesive was still in place (not that I’m recommending it), it was easy enough to swing it back up, reattach the cables, and secure the top with masking tape so I could check all was working. Success! Then I checked the strips, and one for the top edge was missing. Contacted Amazon and I had them send a replacement. In the meantime, I set out to perform the same upgrade on my backup iMac. It was a bit easier to slice the adhesive on that one - maybe I was getting the hang of it - and I managed to do both with one wheel. The replacement package arrived a few days later, and I lined up the strips based on some guidance from iFix. (The package contained no instructions whatsoever.) Getting them installed was tricky, and it’s easy to mess up. Work carefully. But it came out OK. I lay the iMac down, face up, so the weight would help set the adhesive, and using microfiber on the screen also aided in the adhesion process. And just in case, before putting the iMac back in service, I put a piece of masking tape on top, and tilted it back when not in use. But I’m just being super-cautious. In a few days I’ll have another set of strips - different make, as LeFix doesn’t seem to offer without cutting wheel - to button up the second iMac.PS - Second photo shows the residue of old adhesive pulled from both the display and backing unit (both need to be cleaned off to provide a smooth surface for the new strips.
