WOW!!!

Coming from a 60hz HDTV and monitor, this is a breath of fresh air!! I can not believe what I have been missing. I was originally looking to get a 43" 4k TV as an upgrade but found this and thought Id take a chance... WOW!!! 1080p at 144hz is amazazing!!! I couldnt think my games and vids could look much better... Now for the bad but this has nothing to do with the monitor.... I was so impressed with this monitor when I hooked it up, I immediately wanted a 2nd one.... Got right back on to amazon and pressed buy it again, only to see the price had shot up to $475!!!!!! I paid $160!!!! What the heck amazon??? Even the manufacturer isnt asking $475!!!! So I put one in my cart and decided to watch and see... the price jumped from 475 to 210 to 199 to 210 to 475 in less than 24 hours!! In stock to out of stock to 1 remaining... very very frustrating to say the least... what is this.. Ebay? Cmon now... Well, i did buy another direct from ViewSonic because whoever is maintaining this listing is on crack... 5 stars for Viewsonic and thier product.... ZERO stars for amazon for the _ _ _ _ show that ensued when I wanted to purchase another...

Pretty good but underwhelming

This monitor is a big upgrade for me, so overall I'm happy with the purchase even if it isn't everything I wanted. The issues I have are: 144 hz is honestly not that noticeable to me. I can clearly see the difference with online tests, but in my everyday computer use it doesn't seem so much smoother. It is not g-sync compatible. It does state that it is not but I wanted to try anyway. I've turned G-sync on but I do still have noticeable screen-tearing at 70-80 fps. The monitor does not go into sleep mode if the computer is running. After a period of inactivity, it tries to go into sleep mode for a second and then comes on and tries again indefinitely. The monitor speakers are not very high quality but they are plenty loud enough. I love that they even have them though. These things could be issues with my computer/Windows: My computer seems to prefer my television as an output. I have had issues before where it could only boot to the BIOS and in that instance the monitor was black the whole time. It was only outputting to my TV, which had been off. If both are turned on at anytime, the bootsplash appears on the TV before the login appears on the monitor(which is set as the primary display). I think maybe this was also the case with my old monitor, which I had connected through DVI, the TV is HDMI, this monitor is DisplayPort. Sometimes the monitor speakers are not available as an option. It seems to only be available when the television is also available as an option. If only Realtek Audio is available, I can turn on the TV and then NVidia options are listed. I know it's normal but I don't like that the screen goes black every time I turn on the TV I have connected or start certain games. Monitor has no cosmetic issues or dead pixels. I've had it for about a month at this time. I don't know how well the Freesync would work for someone with an AMD GPU, but if you are looking at this for Gsync, I do not recommend it. At the prices I saw however, it is a good purchase just for a 144 hz monitor, I just havent seen a lot of benefit from that, considering I can't run modern games that high anyway.
