SteelSeries QcK Gaming Surface (Your Choice)

Good thickness and the surface was exactly what I was looking for. Not too smooth, not too rough. It's fairly rugged, which tells me it would probably last a long time, were it allowed to remain in my home. I think it would also be nice if it was available in more colors. The main drawback is that it STINKS! It smells like a big pile of toxic ash, and you will smell it easily from several feet away as it sits on your desk. As a bonus, it will make your arm and hand smell like an ashtray too. On this subject, SteelSeries's web site says: "Although the smell may be unpleasant to some, it will almost completely fade away after a day or two. It will be completely gone after having it out and about for a week." Were that true, it wouldn't be a big deal. But even after letting it air out for *two weeks*, outside in the fresh air, it still smells as awful as the day I opened the package. SteelSeries customer service told me they could not help because "the issue does not stem from a manufacturing defect". So I'm returning it to Amazon and I'll let Amazon sort it out with the company.
