My Experience with the Lenovo 300e Chromebook (Renewed): A Practical Review
By Robert Standen on Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2025
I picked up this Lenovo 300e Chromebook as a secondary device, something I could toss in my bag for on-the-go tasks without worrying about my more expensive laptop. And honestly? It's been surprisingly useful. Use Cases: The "Coffee Shop Companion": I often find myself wanting to escape the home office and get some work done at a local cafe. This Chromebook is perfect for that. It's lightweight, the battery lasts long enough for a few hours of work, and it's great for writing emails, browsing the web, and even some light document editing. The 2-in-1 design comes in handy when I just want to read an article or watch a quick video while sipping my latte. Travel Buddy: I recently took a short trip, and this Chromebook was ideal. It's small enough to fit easily in my carry-on, and it's great for staying connected, checking flight details, and even watching a movie on the plane. I also let my child use it for some light games, and the touch screen was perfect for that. Kitchen Recipe Reader: I've found myself using this chromebook in the kitchen. The 2 in 1 feature allows it to sit on the counter like a tablet, and display recipes while I cook. I don't have to worry about getting my main laptop dirty. Simple Task Machine: Let's be real, sometimes you just need a device for simple tasks. Checking email, browsing social media, watching YouTube – this Chromebook handles all of that with ease. It's also great for letting the kids use for schoolwork or simple games without worrying about them messing up my main computer. My Personal Take: Yes, it's a renewed device, so there are a few minor scratches. But honestly, for the price, I'm not complaining. It's not a powerhouse, so don't expect to run demanding applications or play high-end games. But for everyday tasks, it's more than adequate. The Chrome OS is simple and intuitive, which is a plus for me. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. I just want something that works. I have had no charging issues, and the battery life has been acceptable for my needs. Overall: If you're looking for a budget-friendly, portable device for everyday tasks, the Lenovo 300e Chromebook (Renewed) is worth considering. It's not perfect, but it's a solid little machine that gets the job done.

Definitely not "like new" as described, but functional and will do in a pinch
By ak85 on Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2024
***Update: I amended this review from three stars to one star, because a couple of weeks after I posted this initial review, my computer simply stopped working. It will turn on, but I get a plain black screen. With all the other issues I was having, I simply decided this was not worth the hassle and returned it. I will also note that I didn't mention it in my initial review, but this whole process also included another purchase of the same item that was for some reason flagged as undeliverable during shipping, so I never received that one. It's just become a massive headache that's already worth more than $80 in my time and energy, so I opted to simply return the computer. The return process was easy at least, but I will not be buying refurbished electronics on Amazon again. I'm leaving my original review below for posterity.*** I bought this computer advertised in "like new" condition for around $75. I wasn't expecting miracles, but there are a couple things I have an issue with enough to give a 3 star review. They're not a big enough deal to request a refund (again, $75 computer here...I feel like going through the process of requesting a return/replacement is more of hassle), but not great. If this had been advertised for its actual condition, I still might have bought it, but I'd be giving it a much better rating. Biggest one is that in my "like new" computer, the track pad is wonky. It sometimes catches clicked down in a way I can feel if I click too far to the bottom left, and I have yet to be able to successfully highlight anything because the drag is weird. Neither of these are a huge deal for the way I plan to use this computer (especially because the touch screen does work fine so worst case I just highlight by touch), but it's less than I expected based on the listing. The other is that my computer arrived dirty, which I wasn't surprised by as other reviewers have mentioned it, but it was kind of disappointing. I don't think it was anything particularly gross, but there was a goopy smear on one of the device's silver-colored hinges that was rather off-putting, along with a spray of dried droplets on the screen. Probably just grease or oil and the residue of cleaner, but let's just say I cleaned the whole thing thoroughly before I used it. Overall, though, I just needed a really cheap computer to get me through a couple weeks, and this fits the bill. It runs fine other than the trackpad issue, comes with a decent charger, set up easily, all that good stuff. Just, you know, be aware that you're definitely getting what you're paying for!
