Perfect signal in all rooms and smart connect rocks
By bosstrent2010 on Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2019
I ordered this product for 2 reasons, signal strength and smart connect. The firmware on my old R6220 Netgear router updated and made it where I had to have a separate username and password for both the 2.4 ghz an the 5 ghz bands that my high speed connection puts out. It initially was not required but to have one username and password to push the speed thru and my devices would use the bandwidth they needed. With this I am getting full strength in my bedroom whereas I did not before. With ONE username and ONE password! I can now enjoy full strength service anywhere in the house. My cable company offers 1 gig speeds so I’m also going to get a 10 gig modem to run higher speeds up to 3.5 gigs which is all this router will push through. Might not need anything stronger than 1 gig but I certainly want to use the router and new modems potential. I believe the tri band and the 6 antennas pushing the single out hard, allows me to get the most usage of my connection. If I had known about this sooner, oh boy would I have gotten it. Was kind of forced to because of the annoying separate usernames and passwords, and weak signal strength of my old Netgear router. Netgear is by far the best and easiest to use and set up. I’m happy to use their products. Best one I’ve ever had so far.

Fast and unreliable
By Adriano on Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2020
I am a router enthusiast. I had routers from all major brands and I usually help friends setting up or fixing router configurations. And for some time I wished to buy the great Netgear Nighthawk. When my LAN reached 25 devices active at the same time and things started to slow down I figured out that a better router would help. My Spectrum router was not being able to deliver as fast as I needed. After I replaced the router I immediately noticed two things, one is that the router is very fast, good. The other is that some devices could not move from the 5GHz network to the 2.4GHz, the router just denied access, for some reasons. I had to reset to factory defaults and things started to work again. Then I used the router for 3 weeks without any problem. Then, out of nowhere my AirPrint Canon printer started to behave weird, refusing to print anything but still being able to scan documents from time to time. After spending one day trying to fix the printer I realized that the problem could be somewhere else. I put my old Spectrum router back and the printer started to work without any issues. So, I put the Netgear Nighthawk back and performed another factory reset, which fixed the issue with the printer for some time. It looks like the Bonjour service used by the printer is being blocked somehow by the router. But I noticed that the other issue (blocking some devices from moving networks) was back. It looks like the printer gets confused when the devices move from one network to another. The picture in this review shows that multiple devices have the same IP assigned, and this cannot be fixed with a reboot, only with a factory reset. At some point the printer started to fail again, so I decided to return the router. This is not a new router so it is likely that it will never get another firmware update from Netgear, so, I was not expecting a fix for those issues. Sad story.
