The Brick Wall Breaker
By Team Tyre Grip on Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2019
The NETGEAR AC3000 is an excellent WIFI range extender. I am staying in an old style New EngLand home with dense walls and floors. The WIFI router in the home struggled to provide a consistent signal to the 2nd floor - Barely even 1bar from any connected devices on the 2nd floor with occasional disconnects. I spent sometime researching WIFI range extenders and decided this NETGEAR would be the best option. Also being a refurbished unit made sense monetarily as well. Set up is simple, straight forward and the results are amazing! After pairing the 2.4g and 5.0g connection to my router, I am getting a consistent 4bar out of 5 connection from the 2nd floor of the home where previously laptops, phones struggled to get 1bar. This is an amazing WIFI range extender that surely has its place in a crowded field of contenders.

Don't waste your money on Netgear WiFi extender
By Don Ferguson on Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2020
I bought the Netgear WiFi Mesh Range Extender EX-8000 from Amazon. When it arrived it turned out to be a certified refurbished device. That wasn't clearly marked when I made the purchase. The extender was relatively easy to set up and boosted the signal so that wifi worked in the rooms farther away from the router. So far, so good. Unfortunately, the extender which arrived Nov 1, started to fail in February. By the end of February the extender was shutting down and had to be reset almost every day. On March 8th, the extender died completely. I called Amazon and found out that their warranty expired after 90 days; they connected me with Netgear support and after a painfully tedious repetition of contact information and product serial numbers I was finally informed that Netgear's warranty was also only 90 days. If you're looking for a WiFi signal extender I would recommend staying away from Netgear. A quick scan of online product reviews indicates that failure of Netgear products around the 6 month mark is fairly common. My bad for not doing my homework better and finding this out before I clicked the "purchase" button; i hope to save others from having this problem.
