Cannot play games at all.

I got this product thinking I would be able to play my games from it. I got the 6 TB one and was so so excited to finally have enough room on my Xbox Series X/S to download all the games that I wanted so I wouldn’t have to keep deleting others to make room. I read reviews and all of the ones I read said we could play games from it. I, in fact cannot play my games from it. Although the storage is amazing I am so disappointed and sad. I guess I’ll try to use it with my computer instead and see if that works better. And unless I’m missing a step from setting it up, im not sure what it could be.
