LED Rings Burnt Out In A Week
By Sam Sizer on Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2022
Pros: airflow is really solid, LEDs work great, sync'd up really well with some tricky fans that came from Thermaltake in a three-pack and I didn't know if I could find a fan that would be compatible with them. This fan tied all the ARGB in my case together and I love that about it. It also moves a lot of air and doesn't get *too loud* unless it really revs up but even then it's tolerable when it's a consistent level of sound, though some people who are absolutely obsessed with silence over performance and temperatures may want to look elsewhere. Cons: the LED rings burnt out within a week. Don't get me wrong - I don't actually mind this too much. My other three ARGB fans don't have the 3x LED rings showed prominently in the advertised videos and images. So, it's not the worst thing in the world in my particular situation. However, I still found the LED rings pretty cool and enjoyed seeing them... until suddenly they stopped working. I would have taken it out and sent it back but it would be a major pain in the butt considering it tied all my other fans together and I have a broken wrist now. But, I still technically paid for the LED light rings. Amazon gave me a partial refund so I'm happy with the resolution here, but... Beware: I only ordered ONE of these fans and the LED rings burnt out in less than a week. I'm lucky that the absence of the rings helps it match my other fans now, but, if I were trying to outfit an entire case with these, I would be very nervous, and the LED rings burning out on one fan in a case full of them would look kinda awful. I just don't recommend Cooler Master to be honest. They make ok-at-best products and feel a bit stuck in the 2010s in my opinion, when I actually bought a fair few of their products. They rested on their laurels though. I didn't trust their customer support enough to get a hold of them. I'd pick Corsair if I were you - they're great. I only got this fan to match three Thermaltake fans I got as a gift. I give it a 3/5. It does its job. It has ARGB. But as you can see if you look closely at the image and underneath the LED, the rings are dead. If you like the LED rings, there is a solid chance they'll burn out in no time at all. As far as the fan itself goes, it moves air, it is solid, it does its job. Would not buy again though and I urge you to reconsider all the positive reviews on this case fan, as there is a major red flag with this level of craftsmanship. If it weren't for Amazon, this would get a 2/5. LEDs going bad in less than a week is a huge red flag and I won't be buying Cooler Master again - I've had multiple of their products malfunction or go bad in the last year.
