Great Tablet for Comics and Emulation
By Joseph on Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2021
I've had a great experience with this tablet so far, I upgraded from a HD8 2017 model which was showing its age.The screen quality is nice out of the box, but even better with a glass screen protector which always helps make it easier to clean in my experience. I use the bedtime/blue light filter option nearly all the time. The yellow tint is a small price to pay for significantly lower eye strain. The battery life has been great and the newer USB charging is extremely fast. The Amazon app store can be limited at times. I get around this by installing the F-Droid open source app "store" (everything is free because it's open source). You can add the Retroarch repositories to F-Droid and install and update your emulators that way.Performance wise, I use this tablet to read comics and play retro video game emulators and it has been great. The comic books look much better on 10" screen over the 8" screen I came from. Support for 1TB microsd cards is great for having tons of storage. Emulator performance has been great, no major issues with: NES, GB, GBC, GBA, SNES, GEN, N64, PSX, DC. I have used OTG USB controllers as well as Bluetooth controllers without any issues.Streaming playback has been fine for the couple apps I have used.I also got the keyboard case which has been nice when I needed to use the tablet more like a laptop while on trips. It also serves as a great stand when using the tablet to play games.

An underwhelming combination of good hardware and poor software - Kid's toy.
By JOHN L EDDY on Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2021
I had hoped to mirror the tablet to a TV or cast to TV from the tablet, but there appears to be no easy way to accomplish this simple task. We have satellite internet (read no internet when it comes to video and streaming) and no cell service at our cabin in the woods, so I wanted to download from Prime Video when I had real internet away from home and mirror or cast downloaded video to TV at home. Not happening. Amazon gutted this option in newer devices like this one. Apps in the Amazon app store claim to do this, but reviews and internet research tell a much, much different story. The screen is nice and it does a decent job of playing Prime Video downloads, but instead of watching them on your big screen TV in your living room, Amazon has determined that the internet poor (like me) may only watch on this little 10" screen. This is no real Android device in function either. Amazon was clear in the description that it will not allow Google Play, but what they don't tell you is that 1. Amazon only apps are not as mature or as diverse as those on Google Play, so even if you do find an app to do what you want, it is likely to get abysmal reviews from customers, and 2. You won't be able to find your favorite apps, paid or free. That is, unless you are prepubescent, in which case you'll have no idea of my point because you'll find all your games replete with constant advertisements, endemic to the age.Bottom line - A kid's toy, not a serious tablet. An underwhelming combination of good hardware and poor software, apparently brought together with intentions to serve you ads while you fund development of the not-ready-for-prime-time Amazon app store. Lacks any utility that is not provided far more adeptly by almost any real Android tablet and the Google Play Store. A real dissapointment.
