Documentation lacking, but works great!

What I like about the MSRM US754AC Wifi range extender: It does extent my wifi range significantly. Once I got it up and running, it does well. What I did not like: the documentation that came with it. I had to look for help on the web. I have set up wifi extenders before, and this was a challenge to me (did I get that much older?). The documentation that came with it was lacking in detail. Oh my. But I did get it set up. The second thing I do not like is once I had it running, and connected my devices to it (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro), I immediately received an Apple security warning, that the security of my extended network was not sufficient. With all kinds of dire warnings and steps to improve security. But I could find no way to use the admin interface to improve security to acceptable levels. I will probably return it if I can find a wifi extender that has higher level security......I am willing to pay for it! Bottom line though, this extender does work, and extends my wifi throughout my house where my router wifi is weak. Update after 1 week: the extender is working great. Wish it had better security, but doing what it needs to do so my wife can be on Zoom during peak hours! Satisfied!

My wifi router is on the midlevel of my house (there’s an upstairs and basement). I bought this because I didn’t get wifi in my room. Installing initially was fine. Moderately quick and seemed to be suitable. I placed it upstairs and got a decent wifi signal. Currently I have a wireless plan for 1000mbs. So when I saw that this can extend speeds out to 1200mbps, I was excited. When it didn’t even come close to delivering, I accepted it as the dreaded (up to) promise that a lot of companies use. Anyway, the range was horrible. It only worked on one floor. I figured this was normal UNTIL I bought another brand completely by accident. I put the new brand in the basement (btw this new brand I bought promises half of this one and cost half the price. Now, from THE BASEMENT, it can reach my room upstairs. I pretty much stay connected to it all day. As I said, this extender seems good as long as you’ve never had another but it’s not. 2 days ago my daughter unplugged it, not for long, and when I plugged it back in it did not work (unlike how it’s advertised that it can be unplugged and reused. I followed the reset instructions about 3 times now, called Amazon to walk through the process and... nothing. Still doesn’t work. So now just a little over the return threshold I’m stuck with this thing that does nothing. Don’t waste your money. Try something less priced.
