Worth the gamble
By Zak King on Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2024
I've had this monitor for almost a month now with no issues, no dead pixels, everything works perfectly well. I had been eyeballing this model of monitor for a couple of years now, and when I went to look for it new, it was still sitting at $1,700 on Best Buy and Amazon. How this has held its value over the years so excessively is beyond me, but amidst my browsing I came across this monitor "refurbished" on Amazon. I read their little excerpt about it being more environmentally friendly to buy used/refurbished vs new, and admittedly that made sense. I've been working for a tech company over the past few months, and the amount of electronics that we have to throw away - because the recycling station tells us they can't recycle this and that - is saddening. So that coupled with the fact that this monitor was only $700 refurbished (when I got mine) and I figured I'd gamble on it.I was minorly disappointed - when I finally unboxed this puppy a few days after ordering - to find that it had a tiiiiiiiiiny scratch in the bottom right corner on the screen, but it's so negligible that I figured it wouldn't matter too much; and I was right. When the monitor is turned on and displaying all of its dazzling fast moving pixels, I don't even remember that the tiny scratch is there. Again, it has no dead pixels, and performs perfectly well. I can't remember the exact hours of usage this monitor had on it when I first plugged it in, I think a little over 4,000, but it's definitely running like a champ. The way I see it, I got 99% of the monitor I would have gotten in new condition, but at less than half the price. When you look at it that way, it's an absolute steal. If you're like me, and you pour over a bunch of reviews before you decide to purchase something expensive, then I'd say this is definitely worth giving a shot. If I could give this a 4.5/5 stars I would, but overall I'm satisfied enough that I'll just round it up to 5.

Fast and Pretty but Poor Darks and Several Stuck Pixels
By C M on Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2021
Second update: more and more stuck pixels keep appearing. Even though I'm Outside warranty now the threshold for stuck pixels being a defect is way too high. I'm sitting around 9 but the "defect" threshold is 12? Unacceptable for a gaming monitor at this price point. If it worked properly it might be worth your money at half off, but with how poorly this $2000 hunk of junk ages, avoid at all costs.Update: screen already has several stuck pixels. I thought this purchase would last me the better part of the next decade and it hasn't even lasted a year. What a waste of money. The resolution, size and speed are some of the best I've ever seen in a monitor and the aspect ratio really helps you forget anything else that is happening in the world as the pretty lights fill your whole vision. My issues arise in how damn bright a plain black screen is. Even with nothing but pure black on screen it lights up my whole room in a dull grey. For the price, it's a pretty big letdown.
