Saved $240 by Buying it on Amazon Instead of Verizon
By Xu Zhang on Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2025
After using the Fios Quantum Gateway router for almost 9 years, my WiFi started becoming unstable, so I decided to upgrade. Verizon sells the latest CR1000 router for a staggering $400, which seemed overpriced. Thankfully, I found the exact same model on Amazon for just $160. Setup was quick and hassle-free, and the router has been performing great. My WiFi connection is now stable, speeds are reliable, and coverage has even improved compared to my old router. If you’re considering this upgrade, definitely check other retailers before paying Verizon’s premium price. Great router, and even better savings!

You must use the ethernet connection for the internet no matter what your speed.
By Christopher E. Petersen on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2025
One Star because this vital shortcoming is not mentioned in the description. Beware that this router will only connect to the Verizon WAN (Internet) through the ethernet port. The Coax connection will not connect to the Verizon WAN (even at speeds of 100 Mbps and below), so you cannot simply switch out an older router that only uses the Coax connection for the internet.
