The best affordable trackball
By Z. Thompson on Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2025
An excellent trackball. I had the Logi MX Ergo, the first one, not the S, and it was really starting to show its age. I used it every day at work for years. I did not want to dish out $100 for another MX Ergo, so I decided on this. If you need a rechargeable mouse, a tilt scroll wheel, and some extra programmable buttons, then the MX Ergo may be worth the extra cost. The M575 is pretty basic in terms of functionality. It is ergonomic, but doesn't have the tilt plate the MX Ergo does. It has a forward and back button, a great trackball, scroll wheel with click, and of course, your right and left mouse buttons. It takes an AA battery, so it is not rechargeable, but it is supposed to last you a long time, and if you download Logi+ you can keep an eye on your battery life. The finish is matte and smooth, not rubbery like the MX series mice. If the smooth finish bothers you, you can get Supergrip strips. Overall, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a trackball, this is the way to go. I have tried all of the options, and this is the smoothest and most comfortable to use and will last you the longest in terms of battery and function.

Not as good as the previous version.

I love Logitech Trackballs. Been using one since the 80's when I first discovered how much I hate a regular mouse and how they affect my wrist. This only comes in a right handed version however, I have used my old one left handed before. Just use my left pinky and ring finger for the ball and left index finger on the buttons. OK, I am ambidextrous so there is that. I absolutely LOVED the M570 but they are no longer made and getting much harder to find in new condition. The scroll button and left click button on my old one is going out on me so it was time to find something similar. While this trackball, M575S, has a nice 'feel' to it, the buttons are 'soft touch' and have no sound to them. It makes it difficult to be able to tell when I have clicked and even causes me to click twice when I don't mean too as there is almost no resistance to the buttons. And while the unifying device does work on my Win7 (don't say it) machine in that it recognizes the trackball so I can use it, however, the software will not install on Win7 so I can not make any changes to the settings. I'm most likely going to hunt down an OEM M570 for my desktop and use this M575S on my Win10 laptop. They do come in a nice choice of colors though.
