Caliber X2 is a great chair for extended sitting
By Wayne W on Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2023
This is my first gaming chair. I work remote from home, and have always just had an office chair (padded, mesh, half-back style). While those types of chairs are comfortable, the extended amount of time I spend sitting (for both work and gaming afterwards) gets uncomfortable after awhile. When my last office chair broke, I used a kitchen chair for a temporary solution until I got a replacement (not comfortable at all for extended sitting). After deciding to bite the bullet and spend the $ for a gaming chair, I settled on the Caliber X2 after reading several reviews from reputable tech news sources. The reviews were not wrong. This chair is amazing. It's by far the biggest chair I've every had (both height and seat width). I'm 6'1" and with the chair all the way down, my feet rest comfortably on the ground. If I tilt the seat back just a bit, I barely touch the floor. My partner's (5'6") feet don't touch the floor at all. The lumbar support and head rest pillows are nice and make my days very comfortable. With lower back issues, I would usually start to have a sore back after a few hours. I haven't had that yet with this chair, thanks to several factors (lumbar support pillow, high back chair and seat tilt so I can get the comfortable lean back I like while still in a good upright sitting position). The included manual for putting the chair together was a small booklet with all the panes for installation on 1 page with large margins. So the pictures were small and had multiple steps in 1 picture. There were no words, pictures only. This lead to a couple of assembly mistakes I made that if it were more clear, would have made assembly much easier. Installing the tile mechanism and the arm rests to the base of the chair were in the same step. Don't do what I did, which was install the tile mechanism first. This made installing the arm rests a bit harder since the mechanism was in the way of screwing in the arm rest bolts. Also, it was unclear in the very tiny picture which arm rest was for which side (yes they were labeled R and L, but it did not indicate if it was as you were sitting in the chair, or looking at the base for installation. I installed them backwards and realized it a few days later and switched them, which made the arm rests more comfortable since they were now properly positioned). Otherwise, assembling the chair was pretty easy and straight forward, tiny picture guide aside. Spending a few more cents on the booklet and providing clearer assembly instructions (even it the picture instructions were on 2 pages, would have made a world of difference) would have me give it 5 stars for assembly instead of 4. Overall, I give the chair 5-stars, it's just amazing for the price (this was the 2nd highest rated chair, 1st was a Secret Labs chair for about $200 more). I gave 4 stars for the assembly, but still think this is a 5-star chair!

Great chair, but has an issue.

Great chair, great features. But there is play on the base with the spring. Feels like a fastener is not tight enough but I took it all apart and re-tightened everything. It's internal to the mechanism. After about 3-4 months, it's getting worse. Update: After 1 year of use, the above problem got worse, and now the springs are coming through the seat, and now the back reclining lock has completely broken. So the back falls flat if you lean back. This is now a dangerous chair and cannot be used anymore. I have followed CoolerMaster's instructions to the letter, in order to take advantage of the 2-year Warranty. I have contacted the distributor, Score Mighty. They were supposed to send me an RMA. I never got it. Then they said to contact Amazon. I notified Amazon, as Score Mighty advised. Amazon doesn't care as it's past 30 days. I went to CoolerMaster's site to submit a ticket. It's been a week with no acknowledgement. Their website is dead and the forms barely work. I sent an email to CoolerMaster's "AmazonServiceUS" address. That's the one where they tell you to send a screenshot of your review and will get a $10 gift card. That's hilarious. I am stuck with a useless chair I spent over $200 on. No reply from CoolerMaster. I only bought this BECAUSE of the 2 year warranty. Save your money friends. The warranty, service, and support are not worth a penny. Buy ANYTHING else, but do not buy this chair. You've been warned. I am now stuck with a dangerous piece of trash that I will literally have to pay money to have removed and disposed of. Great job everyone!
