Microsoft 365 Personal Subscription

I purchased this with the expectation that the 12 months would be added to my current subscription which still had 5 months left. I had planned to activate this subscription when the current one expired but shortly after the purchase, Amazon send an email stating "Your subscription to Microsoft 365 Family has been canceled. If you purchased a new Microsoft 365 subscription and linked it to your existing account, it has been activated." So Amazon just canceled my previous subscription without my authorization. So this purchase WILL NOT add time to your current subscription and you will forfeit any remaining time on your current subscription. Very deceptive and not stated in the description. UPDATE 12/13/2022: I highly recommend NOT purchasing this from Amazon because of the above reasons and more. Since my Amazon subscription was going to expire soon, I purchased a 15 month subscription from another retailer who provided a code that was to be entered in my Microsoft account to extend Microsoft 365. However, when I went to add this code (which is what Microsoft states that I could do - Do a web search to find this information), I found that there was nowhere to enter the code and Microsoft just sent me to the Amazon subscription page. On the Amazon subscription page I had to select "Cancel my subscription on the expiration date" and then I had to wait several weeks until the Amazon subscription expired before I was allowed to enter the code to renew for 15 months. Again, I highly recommend NOT buying this from Amazon due to the whole "subscription" process which is not transparent as to how it works and doesn't let you extend it. Look for another retailer that provides a code with the purchase (and probably a better price as well) which will not keep you tied to an Amazon "subscription".
