Solid Printer with Great Value, but Some Setup Required
By Lisa Chaney on Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2024
The Creality CR-10 SE is an impressive 3D printer that offers excellent value for its price, but it does come with a bit of a learning curve. Pros: Large Print Volume: One of the biggest advantages of this printer is the spacious build area. At 300 x 300 x 400 mm, it’s perfect for printing large models or batch printing multiple items at once. Quality Prints: After fine-tuning, the print quality is excellent. It handles both PLA and ABS well, producing smooth layers and detailed results. Sturdy Build: The all-metal frame provides stability, minimizing vibrations during printing, which helps with print accuracy. Easy Assembly: It comes semi-assembled, so you won’t spend hours piecing it together. Most of the setup is straightforward, especially if you're familiar with 3D printers. Cons: Leveling the Bed: Bed leveling, even with the assisted process, can be a bit tricky, especially for beginners. It’s not automatic, so expect to spend some time adjusting it. Noisy Operation: The fans and stepper motors can be quite loud. If you're planning to use this in a shared space, you might want to place it in a sound-isolated room. Stock Firmware & UI: The default firmware and user interface feel a bit outdated and could benefit from an update. However, the community is active, and you can easily upgrade it with custom firmware. Final Thoughts: Overall, the CR-10 SE is a reliable workhorse once you’ve dialed in the settings. It’s not a plug-and-play printer, but for those who are willing to invest some time in getting it right, it delivers excellent results. If you’re looking for a large-format printer without breaking the bank, this is a solid choice!

Terrible Product - Keep Looking
By User on Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2025
This thing was a PITA to set up and then never worked properly. Complete and total lemon. Even the test prints for the tools had flaws. It never created anything without significant defects. Then in a grand finale on about the 10th attempted use it committed suicide by melting filament all around the tip. This is nothing but a Chinese made piece of junk. It would be more entertaining to just set $390 on fire and watch it burn. At least that would turn out like you expect. If I could give this thing 0 stars that would be a more appropriate rating. I reached out to the manufacturer for support. I will update this review based on the outcome.
