Better than the old reviews
By L. Vitale on Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2024
This is for the Dragon Touch 102 notepad. I think most of the reviews were for an earlier version. This one 2024 version has very good sound, not tinny and you can make it VERY loud. The second item people had trouble with, I fixed. The keyboard case is very good. The keyboard is solid and works well. The problem was the case held on too well and it was hard to get the tablet back out. But that is really not a problem. The plastic pad holder on the right side is made of one piece that goes over the edge. A small piece of that plastic needs to be cut out so that it looks more like the part in the left side that holds on in two places with a space in the middle. A small knife can do it. Once that is done the tablet is still secure but can also be removed. Another thing that was said was that it would turn on again when you closed it. I put some tape on the keyboard to keep it open a crack to check if it really was lit while closed. To my eyes it stays off until you open it again, then it comes to life. The 8 gb RAM is more than you get with most other tablets andshould keep your tablet running while tablets with less ram bog down with temp files and junk over time. Some competition has a higher res screen, but I found the 102's screen clear and bright. If the super high resolution is a deal breaker go elsewhere. But plan to double your spending. I rarely give five stars, but this one is a keeper........I also found that people said the case did not stay open. It does, Hold the tablet in the case away from you so that the camera opening is facing you on your right and you will see what looks like an indented design with four sides on the back of the case. If you flip open the flap and put your fingers behind the design you can push it out towards you. It is not obvious, but the near vertical indentations are slits. There are magnets in the back that snap into a nice stand that holds the tablet up securely. Nice design, but the manufacturer should tell people about it

Quirky, Undocumented, and Unreliable
By JMAC on Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2020
Out of the box, this tablet didn't look too bad. Although the "user manual" is pitiful and explains virtually nothing except "features' and what the buttons do, I was able eventually to figure out how most of it worked. (DO NOT buy one if you need clear or thorough instructions. You are on your own.) Navigation resembles a Kindle Fire HD but I bought this for something the Kindle does not do very well. I am a DJ and wanted a way to keep digital music handy to play but don't want to haul around a laptop. So far, this is not meeting expectations. It took a couple of tries but I was finally able to get the 128Gb microSD recognized and formatted by the device. The next thing was to transfer music files from a laptop to this tablet. Not much luck. It took a bit of poking around and testing to find how to allow file transfer. (You have to find the tiny icon and set what you want to do EVERY TIME you connect the USB cable. The first few folders went okay but now every time I try to transfer a file it hangs up. Sits at "Copying...", beeps occasionally, then hangs. All file activity on the tablet is REALLY SLOW although I am using a high quality, high speed microSD card. It drags my laptop down too until I unplug it. If I disconnect the cable, reset everything, and try again the first one or two transfers will work but then it hangs again. I just restarted the tablet to see if that would help file transfer. Now it is saying "SanDisk SD Card is Missing - Insert device again." I didn't touch the microSD card before or after restarting so this is another failure. So far, this is the most quirky and undependable tablet I have ever used. If you need a simple tablet to do simple things and don't mind a scavenger hunt to try and figure out how to use every feature, this might work for you. But I've only been able to get as far as I have because I have been using Android devices, Samsung and Kindle Fire tables, and Android phones for several years. So buggy and unpredictable I sent it back for a refund and purchased a similar tablet from Samsung. It has worked flawlessly out of the box and does everything the Dragon Touch tablet does without hang ups, crashes, and slow responses.
