My Grandson selected this for a Graduation gift. He’s still enjoying it and spends more time with family outside his gaming room.

Cannot use HDR even with Nebula OLED Screen unless using specific app from Microsoft Store
By Dave on Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2023
I almost never write reviews becuase normally the products work as described. This laptop was an aboslute nightmare, I spent probably 25 hours over 3 days trying to figure out how to enable HDR for the Nebula OLED screen and RTX 4070 I spent a lot of money for. You CANNOT enable HDR in Windows 11 - the slider is greyed out. No matter what changes you make in NVidia Control panel, the ASUS software, the MUX switch or anything else, you cannot enable HDR or Dolby Vision. The only possible way is to use a specific "app" in the MS Store, and even then it does not truly work. Supposedly in some games you can select HDR but if Windows itself is stuck in 8-Bit sRBG mode, the game does not override it. I tried using the expanded color palettes (DCI-P) and two other wide gamut settings in the ASUS program, but none would allow you to turn on HDR. It feels like this entire laptop is just a scam, or maybe ASUS plans to update it in the future, but sorry I'm not paying $2000 for a laptop that *might* someday do what it claims to do now. I tired a dozen different videos from HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ or Dolby Vision and not a single one sent the HDR palette from the laptop to my LG CX OLED TV, which will tell you when it recognized and switches to a larger gamut setting. There's a worthless Dolby Vision application pre-installed and of course it will not do anything helpful. IIRC the only way to get DV to work is if you're streaming video from a MS Store approved app (Netflix). Any locally stored videos are stuck running SDR. I've been building my computers since the mid 90's so I know what I'm doing - which was returning this within 3 days (after spending close to 20 hours researching and reading forums). It simply does not make sense to sell an HDR/DoVi capable screen and video card, but then completely disable the HDR setting in W11. I really
