Fast, smart, large.

Solved my connection problems. I have several security cameras in the space where I have this router. Some would cut out on occasion. This new router solved that issue. Plus, the setup software is easy enough. I haven't tried any of the advanced options. Note the wing shape takes up a lot of space.

Good but... nerfed by Netgear through their own app and the required account log-in
By Matt Howard on Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2025
My previous router was a Netgear AC1200 and I liked it. The Nighthawk AX5400 is not bad, but it's held down by Netgear insisting on the user creating an account that the router then can't log into (my experience). You get pushed to the app, which is not enough for advanced users for advanced settings such as port forwarding or reserved IPs. I just want a router that lets me log in without a hassle, change settings and save. I will be use this one for the time being, but I will seriously reconsider Netgear in the future unless they let go of some of these "features" and just let the customer manage their equipment. Keep the app for others, but don't force me to use it or the Netgear account log-in just to use MY ROUTER.
